A Stream of Kindness
Funded May 6, 2019Thank you very much for supporting this special project. We offered three sessions for families to attend, one before school, one after school, and one in the evening. The evening session was the most popular. Students and parents alike enjoyed the task of creating a special rock for our Kindness Stream. The stream is a work in progress because we will need lots more rocks to create it. We have classes wanting to join in on the fun, so we shouldn't have a problem making it happen.
The end results included over one hundred rocks painted by students and families with each rock being as unique as the individual that created it. Each rock holds a special message to remind us daily of what our school promotes- being kind, responsible, respectful, and caring citizens of our school community.
Thanks again for making this special family engagement opportunity possible!”

Funded Mar 16, 2018Our Spring Learning Showcase was a huge success!
Our event was well attended and we received very positive feedback! Families were able to visit classrooms and learn about the research that students had done on sea animals. There were able to visit a craft station, a snack station, and a hands-on Tide Pool, and even got to try printing with a real fish, but the biggest draw was our Storyteller, Big Joe.
Big Joe did not disappoint. He shared multicultural folktales about sea life and ocean creatures that engaged students and parents alike, captured their interest, and made them laugh! In fact, we heard loud and clear that we need to have him back!
Big Joe's visit definitely created a memorable experience for our students and families while building and reinforcing important skills and strengthening the home-school partnership that is key to successful learning.”

Funded Dec 13, 2011My class and I feel so lucky to have people care about our class and our learning. Your support is very much appreciated and has had an impact on our class.
Your support made it possible for my class to receive additional magnetic letters so that all learners could have their own set of letters rather than having to share when we do word building activities. Additionally, the funds helped to purchase hands-on learning materials to support my students in practicing and applying skills taught during independent learning time.
I am convinced that affording my students daily opportunities to use these materials had a huge impact on the development of their reading skills this year. It also added some fun to their learning.
Thank you again for your support!”

Reading to Learn
Funded Dec 29, 2011We are so lucky to have such great supporters! We can't thank you enough!
The books that you so generously donated to really added some excitement to our reading time. These books not only provided the motivation for my students to practice their reading, but also helped keep them engaged in doing the hard work of learning to read.
These new books also helped to build our collection of nonfiction texts. Building our library is critical because it not only provides more choices for my students, but also allows me to more effectively match readers and texts.
Thank you very much!!”

Mrs. Brady
