The arts classes I teach include Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors in the same classroom. I teach in Delano, California at a high school made up mostly of Latino and Filipino students. My students are hardworking and creative, and they need more opportunities to express their creative side. I currently teach Art Appreciation, Intro to Art, Drawing I, and Drawing II classes. Students use graphite pencils, colored pencils, tempura paint, water color, acrylic paint, and other mediums. Students gain confidence and understanding of the artistic process, of using various techniques and tools, and of their own ability to participate in the art skills they are studying. Students incorporate hands on learning into their academic learning, reading, writing, thinking, and analysis of art, artists, genres, and art history.
