Thank you so much for helping fund my donors choose project. It means the world to my students. We can’t wait to start reading our new books. We are very grateful for your generosity and your support. I will send pictures and updates of our books in our classroom library.”

  • Help Inspire Reading for Brooklyn Teens

    Funded Oct 24, 2017

Thank you for your generous book donation. Our classroom has been transformed. Because of all the different leveled readings all students have been engaged in reading. It means so much to our student population to hold brand new books in their hands.

Every Friday our class engages in the process of independent reading. our kids have been excited by titles like Honor Girl The Art of Being Normal, and Boy Meets Boy. From the time our books arrived our students begged to take them home. One of our students read 3 books within the first week of having the books in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

  • Computers for Critical Thought, Creativity, and Community-Building

    Funded Jul 5, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our class set of computers. It has been instrumental in helping support students this year in our ICT classroom. In our English class, we've been able to support students at a range of different reading levels. Struggling readers have been able to use Audibles to access our whole-class text, and students reading beyond grade level have been able to work independently on supplementary materials. We've been able to differentiate instruction by sending students individualized assignments on our LMS, Schoology.

Since each student has a computer, they are able to work self-guided and self-paced, which reduces the affective filter around needing help and allows students to better receive the help they need.

Finally, my students who are new to the United States have been able to use these computers to access language activities and to support themselves in content classes where they do not receive any other support as foreign language students. It has been invaluable in allowing these students to access content and reducing the language barrier.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

Many of our 9th graders come to high school without an email account. Aside from their cell phone, many do not have access to technology at home. In order to prepare them for the rigorous demands of college and career, it is essential that they are interacting with computers on a daily basis. Our classrooms are inclusive, which requires significant differentiation in order to meet all of their unique needs. With computers, we will be able to provide students with targeted resources and materials that will drive their success regardless of their literacy level upon entry to high school. They will use Google Drive, Newsela, Schoology, Audiobooks, and many other resources in order to accelerate and monitor their own learning.
