Wooden Blocks: The Power of Play!
Funded Aug 7, 2024First and foremost I would like to thank you for helping my students have a place where they can use their creativity to build what they are imagining. When I introduced the Wooden Block area to my preschoolers their eyes were opened wide with amazement and curiosity. Students couldn't wait for choice time to go to the block area to start building their houses, parks, playgrounds play field, etc. Students would preplan going to block area with a partner to build something new or continue a building project left by the previous students.
Recently, during our tree study students began to create paths, roads, highways that would take them through the block forest they had created. Sometimes they would take different size blocks and create trees for the path. Our next study will be on buildings and my students have already began thinking and talking about how tall their buildings will be using the wooden blocks. I've heard students talk about building a school and houses with the blocks as their building materials. They are very excited for this topic to start.
Thank you once again for your kindness and overwhelming generosity!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Rios
