My school is located in a low income and extremely poor socioeconomic environment, in which technology is not available to most students. Despite these hard and unmotivating circumstances, my students remain dedicated, hardworking, and resilient. Our weekly news program was started from scratch with no funds or equipment, and the program is now able to produce a weekly production focused on life, events, and members of the high school. The program has grown tremendously over the past two years, and several upperclassmen have expressed the desire to pursue a career in journalism. The program provides a positive influence on all types of students, within the class, the school, and the community.
