  • Help Me Inspire My Kindergarteners To Read Together

    I wish you could be in my classroom to see my students use ELMO to read and write from the resources online. It is your contribution that has made this possible for them. I have been able to teach reading, writing, social studies and science from the resources available online using ELMO to project the information on the big screen. As a result my kindergartners now are more technologically savvy, excited and confidant about learning, and therefore better equipped for the future.”

  • Help Me Inspire My Kindergarteners to Read

    My class received the materials you donated and I wish you could be there to see the excitement and gratitude in their eyes. We celebrated the arrival of the materials with ice cream. Everyday, students in my class work with the materials to increase their early literacy skills, to identify the letters and the sounds in so many very fun, creative ways.

    I am writing to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without your support this feeling of hope, excitement and happiness in my students wouldn't have been there and our classroom would have been empty. Thank you.”

Most of us remember kindergarten as a fun-filled time of learning through music, sing-alongs and collaborative read-alongs. Because we don't have a listening center, my students don't have that experience, and I don't have the tools to help them develop the listening skills they need for literacy. If you saw them, you would fall in love with them right away. Most of my students live in low income housing or shelters. They are not spoiled, not demanding, not greedy or self-righteous, but as a result of the budget cuts in public education, they are nobody's priority except for mine. Most of my students have never touched a book before coming to my class, nor have they learned to listen to stories or music in a meaningful way. They deserve a chance to develop these skills and the creative potential that grows from them. Please make a difference in my students' education.
