Eco-Column & Magnetism
Funded Dec 19, 2022We are nearing the end of our six-week ecosystem unit. Students have made it through the scientific process and have gained a wealth of knowledge about ecosystems.
Students built terrariums and aquariums. The terrarium included rye, mustard, alfalfa, detritus, crickets, and pill bugs. In the aquarium students added elodea, algae, duckweed, mosquito fish, and pond snails. Each week they observed the changes that were occurring and compared them with the control. The process was fun! However, we did loose a few organisms along the way.
Thank you for providing Oregon Trail Academy's fifth-grade class with the opportunity to have a hands-on experience.”

This Year Sucks! Let's Enjoy Quarter Two
Funded Nov 30, 2021Students are having a great time sewing their snowmen!
Everything was suppose to arrive in November. However, our box was lost in Fairbanks. Everything had to be reordered, so students weren't able to start their winter projects until February. Luckily, we live in a cold state where snow doesn't melt until April or May.
Each student received a pop-it bracelet. Most of them wear their bracelets everyday.
Thank you for giving my class something to look forward to. We wish you and your family the best!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Phares

Funded Nov 16, 2021Before break, students throughout the school were able to choose from several explorations.
I hosted a bead class that was attended by 30 young ladies. Your generous donation allowed me to purchase beading tools, felt squares (to keep beads from rolling away), and hot cocoa (with extra marshmallows) for each table. In addition, I was able to cover my desk with bowls of brightly colored beads, beading posts, earring backs, etc. Students lit-up when they were given permission to choose as many beads as they wanted. In the end, each student was able to make two pairs of earrings and one beaded necklace. Each piece was carefully crafted and the outcome exceeded my expectations. Seven lucky ladies went home with a gift bag filled with tools, beads, fittings, and charms.
The most beautiful part of this experience was the kindness that followed. Students began gifting their jewelry to teachers and friends. Others used their newfound skills to teach others, offering tools and beads in the process.
Thank you for your generosity. My students continue to share their beading trials and tribulations with me. This experience has brought us closer together and provided them with a positive outlet during these angsty years.”

Teacher Wish List
Funded Aug 19, 2011I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children.
The products that you have funded will enable students to read comfortably, listen to audio books, and create colorful art projects.
Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce these items to the children.”
