Impact of New Resources on Students

The new resources have significantly enhanced our students' learning experience, allowing for more interactive and engaging classroom projects. One specific project that stands out is our recent science fair, where students utilized the new materials to create innovative experiments. For instance, one group designed a model demonstrating renewable energy sources using solar panels and wind turbines. They were able to conduct hands-on experiments that illustrated the principles of energy conversion and sustainability, which not only deepened their understanding but also sparked their interest in environmental science.

    Student Reactions

When my students first saw the new materials, their reactions were overwhelmingly positive. Their eyes lit up with excitement as they unboxed the supplies, which included advanced lab equipment and interactive learning tools. Many students expressed eagerness to start using these resources immediately, asking questions about how they could incorporate them into their projects. This enthusiasm was palpable; it created an atmosphere of curiosity and motivation throughout the classroom.

    Next Steps in Learning

Looking ahead, our next steps involve further exploration of the scientific concepts introduced during the science fair project. We plan to delve deeper into data analysis by having students collect and interpret data from their experiments using graphing software provided by our donors. Additionally, we will be integrating these resources into our upcoming unit on climate change, where students will apply what they've learned about renewable energy to propose solutions for real-world environmental issues. This progression not only reinforces their understanding but also encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for their future academic endeavors.”

  • Comfy Chair, Focused Minds: A Seat for Student Success

    Funded Nov 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous support in helping our classroom receive a new author's chair! This special chair is now the centerpiece of our reading and writing activities, where students proudly share their stories, poems, and ideas. It has truly transformed our space, making each student feel celebrated and heard. Your kindness has inspired creativity and boosted confidence through all of the young minds we see in the classroom, and we are incredibly grateful for your support in making this meaningful experience possible.”

  • Headphones Are the Best Phones!

    Funded May 22, 2023

Thank you so much for the support in getting our class headphones. Our students are currently using them to close out our school year in comfort.

Since COVID, the new wave of technology has really become a big part of the school day and comfort is key when it comes to engagement. The students enjoyed picking their own headphones and favorite colors. They are taking such great care of them, we really are proud of how responsible they have been. Again thank you for gifting our class this generous set of headphones.”

  • In Living Color

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for bringing our classroom to life with our color printer. It has been an amazing addition to our class. We are able to print name tags and anchor charts that are not only supporting student learning but they are engaging the students in a way that colorful items can. The students have even started printing their own writing using the printer. The students are learning how to use the technology which in today's world is a priceless asset to have. Thank you again for your support.”

  • Power Pen Practice

    Funded Sep 9, 2022

Our package has arrived and we were thrilled to open it with our students. They are so intrigued by the pens and cards. So far we have read some of the cvc words on the cards and practiced our fluency with the math cards. At the end of the week we plan to use these materials for centers and can't wait to see the joy on their faces. This will help them become more independent readers and more fluent in their math skills. The students will be earning turns with the power pens by displaying good behavior and willingness to try! Thank you again.”

  • Our Learning Is Poppin'

    Funded May 25, 2022

While our students haven't exactly seen these materials yet, we already know how excited they are going to be. We are planning to use the popits during literacy. They can be used in so many ways! We have already brainstormed using them to pop out our spelling words each week, to have competitions of popping out our consonants vs our vowels, and even using them for echo pop letters where the teacher will give a letter sound and the students have to pop the corresponding letter.

The unfix cubes will also be a game changer helping students see how letters put together make words.

Thank you again for all your generosity. We can't wait to use these fun materials next school year!”

  • STEM Starters!

    Funded Jan 18, 2022

Thank you so much for helping this project come to life. Our STEM centers have been a big hit this year and with the amount of objects that were funded, we are now able to make individual centers that are COVID friendly. The students love starting their day with creative building and we have seen such a difference in their willingness to work. While the students are working on STEM building this also gives us time to talk with the students using conversational language to build their social skills.”

  • Books For All!

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you so much for making this project possible. This year, more than ever, our students have lower proficiency levels due to the gap in school. Students struggled last year going from in person to remote quite frequently. When school closures happened, they were on a whim and students didn't have tangible books at home for days on end. Now that this project has been funded and books have been delivered, our students have books that represent them and many cultures around the world. Thank you again from myself and our class.”

  • Six Feet Apart

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you for making this project possible. The students have used these things all year. While I may have been teaching remotely, I was able to send home materials with each student when the came to pick up paper work on set days. We will most definitely forever be thankful for the touchless hand soap dispenser as well as the abundance of pencils. While things are different now and we can no longer share our materials, having pencils, dry erase pockets and pencil holders will make all the difference in preparedness and safety.”

Working in the projects of New York City with special needs students is often overly demanding and rewarding all in one day. My students suffer from a lack of resources that would allow them to enjoy reading and get lost in an author's world. I want for my students to have the chance to love reading and use their imaginations. In our public school we are very limited with reading materials and are often using books from long ago that they can't relate to. I want them to have the same chance I had as a student to fall in love with the escape that can come while falling into a good read.
