Using Our Five Senses with Sensory Play
Help me give my students light table sensory materials, a sensory sand ice cream set, mold-and-play sensory sand, water pumps, touch-and-feel balls, and magnetic blocks.
Once again thank you for helping our UTK students build their large and fine motor skills. The hop along bouncing balls are a great addition to our outdoor activity time. The students are able to practice balancing and hoping from one end of a course to another. They are also able to select which bouncing ball is easier for them to use depending on the size. Students are also learning to take turns using the bouncing balls as they await their turns.
The storage bin has been very useful in putting away the bouncing balls and other balls the students use and play with during outdoor activity time. The storage bin is easy for the students to take and push around on the playground to their designated place. It also help with clean up time because students are learning to be more organized with the outdoor materials.”

Thank you for the wonderful resources. Our UTK students are enjoy learning and playing while building their language and knowledge of diversity. The Magnetic Wonder Tiles are one of the students favorite toys to use during centers. They use them to construct homes or a variety of structures. They get the ideas of what to build by looking through the building around the world picture cards. Sometimes they attempt to build the tallest skyscraper like in Dubai or the Sydney Opera House. It is fun to watch how they use their knowledge to become young engineers and constructors.
The train set and the construction site vehicles are used during center time to let the students continue to explore and connect their learning through play. They enjoy helping one another design the train path and are learning to work together and collaborate with their friends. We can't thank you enough for bringing these much needed resources into our classroom.”

My students really enjoyed all the Kaplan resources we have been able to use. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to learn through play with all the great new materials. The peg puzzles have given the students choices when going to the puzzle center.
The Architecture posters are very popular at the block center. The students are using them to get ideas on what to build and how to build it. They are also learning the names of different types of buildings.
The squeaky balls are fun for the students to use during outdoor activity. They enjoy having a variety of choices to select from.”

I teach Transitional Kindergarten at an Elementary School Southern California. Many of my students come from low-income families. 100% of the students qualify for free school meals and our school is 100% title 1. The majority of my students come from Latino households where Spanish is their primary language.
All of my students turn 5 years old between September or December. They are considered the youngest of the kindergartners. They also need to acquire rich academic vocabulary to be successful in school.
For many of my students this is their first schooling experience. They are beginning to learn the routines of the classroom and school. They come to school ready to learn and excited to see what new activities and songs they will be learning for the day. Their families are very supportive of their learning and try to volunteer. I want to show them to love coming to school and that learning can be fun!
