All of my students want to succeed. They come to school every day, do they best that they can, and hopefully leave feeling more empowered than the day before. Our classrooms, however, are not always set up to honor each individual student and the way that they learn best. At our school, classrooms are set up so that every student has the same seat, at the same type of desk, and in the same spot. I am hoping you will help me eliminate this disservice we are imposing on the children. It is empowering for students to take ownership of their learning and make decisions as to what works best for them. Flexible seating will give them that option. During independent working time, students will be able to move about the classroom, select where they would like to work, and most importantly, be comfortable! Students have taken a more active role in determining what they would like to study and how. The missing component is to give them options regarding their learning environment. I would love to see my students engaged in whatever way works best for them, whether it be sprawled across bean bags on the carpet, wiggling in chairs, or casually reclining in a comfortable couch! The products that I have selected would expand their options significantly. I am excited to watch them become more independent, motivated and continue to grow as an advocate for their own learning! Thank you.
