  • Dramatic Play Upgrade!

    Funded Mar 3, 2025

Our dramatic play project was funded and we couldn't be more excited!! We will have so many new costumes to help us practice our fine motor, language, and social skills. Now we have a space to hang up our costumes and hopefully keep them usable longer. Thank you for being so generous!”

  • Light Table Magic!

    Funded Sep 16, 2023

We are so excited to have a new light table! We were also able to receive several types of light table materials as well. When I brought the box into the classroom, my preschool students were so curious what could be inside! I knew most of them had never seen a light table before so it was a big surprise for everyone once I unboxed the table and put it together.

I have two students with cortical vision impairment. They both need special education services to help them to learn how to progress in the educational system. The light table to a wonderful tool for them in so many ways. We are excited to explore the possibilities for them.

We also use it with our other students as well. We have been practicing sorting colors and making shapes with colored blocks. We will be able to trace alphabet letters and more advance activities as the year goes on. Thank you again!!”

  • We Need New Toys for Our Tots!

    Funded May 3, 2021

I opened the Farm Number floor puzzle yesterday afternoon, and my students were so excited! Two boys worked together to complete the puzzle and I could hear them counting the pictures of animals to determine what piece would come next. When they were finished, they took the pieces apart...and put them back together again! What a great new puzzle to add to our collection!

My students absolutely love using the new water color sets. They take turns during our entire center time painting pictures with the water colors and our new large easel-size paper. Some of them are so happy to hang their picture up on the wall. The new water color sets are washable, which is a big plus in the preschool world.

We are just enthralled to have new art supplies and new puzzles. They are staples in our preschool play materials. Thank you all again!”

  • Fine Motor Practice Can Be Fun!

    Funded Oct 21, 2019

We are enjoying our new fine motor materials very much! We have students with weak or delays hand and finger muscles. These materials are helping them to strengthen their hand muscles. The Therap-putty is much more dense than Playdoh. This helps our students work on pulling and pinching with their fingers. Our children are also learning how to use stamps. Some students are unable to push the stamp hard enough on the ink pad to get ink on the stamp. These wooden handle stamps are perfect for learning how to use stamps!

I have one student that enjoys using the Thera-putty with small animals. He will pretend the Thera-putty is water, and the animals will go swimming. He will pretend that the Thera-putty is lava and the animals have to watch out because it's too hot! What a great tool to develop imagination!

Thank you for your generosity. You are helping our littlest eagles soar!”

  • New Kitchen Set for a New School Year!

    Funded Aug 18, 2019

My students are in LOVE with the new materials that you all helped purchase for my classroom. The Alphabots have been a hit since the first minute I opened the package. They are little plastic robots that start out as letters of the alphabet and then transform into little robots with moveable arms and legs and little hidden eyes. My students have had the best time pretending with these robots, but the best part is they are learning the names of the letters while they play!

When I took the Alphabots out of the package everyone's eyes grew wide. Everyone was so excited to get a chance to play with them! My students are practicing sharing the robots, and they even bring chairs to the table for other students to come and share!

We are also enjoying the red play phones we received. We have called the "Pizza Man" many times to order pizza. They love to call each other and pretend to play "family". What great materials we've been given!”

  • Help Us Update Our Art Materials

    Funded May 15, 2019

We are in love with all of our new art materials that arrived these last couple of weeks. We have also received new Play-doh and a few other hands-on manipulatives. My students were so elated to see the new containers of Play-doh, all different colors! Opening a new container of Play-doh is a pretty special moment.

My students have been practicing rolling and pinching (strengthening hand muscles) the Play-doh while having a great time interacting with each other. One afternoon we rolled out a few containers of Play-doh and pretended they were snakes. One snake "bit" a friend and we used that opportunity to talk about appropriate ways we interact with peers. We then used the snakes and rolled them up to look like cinnamon rolls. The students had a wonderful time baking their cinnamon rolls and pretending to eat them!

We are hopeful for a current project that is awaiting full funding. In this project are more fine motor materials including small chalkboards that will be used to practice writing capital letters. Thanks again for your kind donations!”

  • New Materials For a New School

    Funded Apr 5, 2018

We have been enjoying the new toys and materials that we received with our last project! We asked for new paint/mess aprons, dollhouse families and furniture, Thera-putty, and a set of alphabet cookies. We have used the new aprons many times since receiving them last May. My preschool students love to paint, these aprons work so well to keep their clothes cleaner. They are very easy to put on and take off. We love that the children are learning to do this themselves. Children are playing in the dollhouse daily. I've seen students using language when once they didn't talk. I've seen students sharing that once screamed when someone tried to play with them. We are able to exercise our fingers a few times a week with our new Thera-putty. It is much stronger than Play-doh and offers a different consistency. Last but not least, our new alphabet cookies. The children enjoy putting them in the play oven and bringing out hot and fresh cookies!

My students were so very excited to see the new Thera-putty. They love playing with Play-doh and this offers a different sensory feel. They can pinch, pull, stretch, and mold this awesome texture. A few student were also excited to see the new dollhouse families. I was able to obtain new families with different ethnicities, some of them matching the students in my classroom.

My next project will be beefing up the math and science areas in my classroom. I'd like more durable materials to count, explore, and build. I think my students would be interested in "real" materials like polished wood and real bugs in containers to better explore.”

    Mrs. Talbott

  • Help Us Update Our Favorite Materials

    Funded Oct 27, 2017

We absolutely love all of the new materials we received with this project! My students were so ready to open everything as soon as they saw the box of materials. We have not opened everything yet, because we are saving some supplies for when we move to our new building in March 2018.

The first things we opened were the new puzzles. This students were so excited to see more challenging puzzles with bright pictures and all of the pieces. A couple of the puzzles have animals on them which has sparked more and more language as the students create stories about what is happening in the pictures on the puzzles. We have a seen a couple of students increase their puzzle skills tremendously, simply because they were interested in the new puzzles and were motivated to finish the puzzles on their own.

We've also seen students pretend playing with peers with the new baking sets we received as well as playing house with the new baby bottles. The children are giving each other roles within the house and using language to play appropriately. They are sharing the bottles with each other to feed the babies, which gives us great practice with turn-taking skills.

Thank you so much again for funding our project. We are enjoying all of the new toys and materials everyday. In the future we'd love to replace some of our worn out art supplies as well as new materials for our weather bear.”

    Mrs. Talbott

  • Summer

    Funded Jul 17, 2012

I can't say enough how grateful I am that each of you donated money to fund this project. The materials we received are perfect for our special needs preschool classroom. We use the new drying rack almost everyday! We don't have much available space for our paintings crafts to dry, so the drying rack is so handy! We also love using the hands-on materials for our painting and using playdoh.

Our school district is still in the process of recovering from a massive F5 tornado that destroyed much of the district buildings and materials. Our preschool classrooms are in trailers because our building was needed for the middle school students, so it is a blessing to receive the nice materials found on donors choose.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Talbott

  • Little Toys for Little Hands

    Funded Feb 9, 2012

This is just a small piece of my gratitude for all of your generous donations to my classroom. The materials that we received we use almost every day. They are part of our tub toys that we play with every day to practice sitting in chairs for a few minutes. They have very much enjoyed the hammer and nails set, the magnetic building blocks, and community helper figures.

Our community was devastated by an F5 tornado last year and we are slowly but surely starting to rebuild. Your generous donations are helping our students to feel safe in the community again!

    Thanks,

My students are special needs students that are ages 3 to 5 years old. They attend a three-hour preschool where we work on all aspects of child development. Many of the students that attend our program have special needs such as hearing and vision impairments, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, etc. These disabilities often require additional personnel and materials in order for them to function in a classroom environment.
