Fetal Pig Dissection
Funded Oct 12, 2014Your donation allowed 60 seventh grade students to have an experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives. My students asked me almost everyday for two months prior to the dissection, "When are we going to dissect the pig?!" Needless to say, when it came time to dissect, they were ecstatic. Through the fetal pig dissection, students were able to explore the textures, colors and shapes of internal organs, recognize the interconnectedness between different organ systems within the body, and understand the relationship between the form and function of organs. Without your donation, this would never have been possible. Thank you very much for your help in furthering and enriching the quality of public education.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Wells Fargo and 4 other donors."Are We Dissecting Something This Year?"
Funded Oct 30, 2011I cannot thank you all enough for your generosity. To this day, my students are still talking about the fetal pig dissection they conducted months before. They still reference their work with the pigs during class discussions, and they apply the knowledge they learned from the dissections to their writing, which signifies true learning!
During our dissection one student screamed out, âÂÂThis is the best science class ever!âÂÂ
Another proclaimed, âÂÂThis looks just like human organs, but smaller!âÂÂ
I wish you could all see the excitement on their faces. It was truly an amazing experience to witness the genuine student learning, the enthusiasm, and the excitement the students had for learning during those periods of dissection.
Learning is most profound when it is tangible and involving something real. While I strive to provide these opportunities to my students, I find I am often limited due to a lack of funding. Words do not adequately express my gratitude to all of you for providing us with these fetal pigs. Your collective donations provided our students with a strong, foundational knowledge of general anatomy and a learning opportunity that will outshine most others for the rest of their lives. ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ramos
