  • Cube Chairs to the Rescue

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations for our classroom cube chairs. These chairs have allowed my students to have their own personal space during our group time activities, during small group times and during work time in centers. My students enjoy using our cube chairs as tables also. These create a space to explore toys in our own personal way. In the dramatic play area these have made extra seats at the table for our dolls. Cube chairs have also made a great train for us to pretend we are going on a trip to the store and to the zoo with our friends. Your gift will continue to create many memorable learning adventures in our classroom.”

  • Exercising Our Body to Focus Our Minds

    Funded Mar 30, 2020

My students are utilizing the carpet markers to help us with a variety of activities this year. They are very thankful for having the bright colored markers which bring joy and happiness to their day.

We are using spots during group time to have our own space. During this time of needing social distancing, these spots help us to keep each other safe. The arrows and strips allow us to create multiple areas for exercise breaks. This allows us to keep ourselves and others safe while still getting our wiggles out.

We are so grateful for your generosity in helping us to exercise our bodies to focus our minds while staying safe.”

  • Calming Characters

    Funded May 18, 2019

Thank you for your generous donations to provide animals for my students. My students have enjoyed utilizing them as calming buddies when completing work. We have also utilized them to relax with in the swing or with an adult friend. One of my students prefers the silver lizard and will ask for it when he comes to my room. Another student takes the green lizard when she goes to join the Kindergarten classroom to provide her with comfort. The snakes have been very popular to utilize for pressure on shoulders while working. We look forward to continue to utilize these animals to help soothe us on a daily basis thanks to your kindness.”

  • Clean Bodies, Clean Clothes - Positive Emotions

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

Thank you for supporting my students and families at my school through laundry detergent and soap. We were able to share with over 50 families. Your generosity allowed my families to have daily necessities that otherwise is a constant financial concern. My students are able to focus better on their academics when they arrive at school having clean bodies and in clean clothing. It is amazing the generous support that we have received at my school through the Donors Choose program. Thank you for your continued support for our students.”

  • Calming Spaces

    Funded Nov 16, 2018

Thank you for providing my students with fidgets, timers and weighted blankets. My students utilize these items in the Student Support Center as well as the general education classroom. These items are a few of the ways we can support our students in their sensory needs.

My students were excited to see new items in our class. They loved watching the timers with bubbles. The visual offers them a calming focus while they are taking a break to refocus. Our blankets were a welcome addition. Multiple students have asked to utilize the new blankets at their work area, to take a calming break and to regroup to return to class. One of my students stated "the fidgets help kids with ADHD, just like me". The variety of fidgets that we have allow multiple students to have access to these supports.

Your financial support to provide for my students allows them to have a variety of items to help them succeed in the school environment. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

  • Silence the Distractions and Focus on Success

    Funded Dec 13, 2015

Thank you for helping to fund my project "Silence the Distractions and Focus on Success". You have impacted many students by providing a resource that allows an increased ability to focus during academic work. My students have stated how much they like the bright colors and the soft feel of the headphones. I have students that will ask for headphones because they are aware that they make more progress when they can block out environmental distractions.

Since we have acquired the multiple pairs of headphones, our students can have access at any time. They are happy to use these comfortable solutions during noisy convocations and fire drills. Jump Rope for Heart in our gymnasium can become very loud when 70 or more students are jumping rope. The headphones have been a lifesaver for my students to continue to participate with their peers in these types of environments.

The students in my classroom sign-in and out as they work both in the Student Support Center and in general education classrooms. They utilize our room for academic needs, sensory supports and behavioral support. We have created an online sign-in system through Google but need to have a way for students to access this system. By obtaining 2 tablets for my classroom we can provide this access for students to independently regulate their time for specific activities. Working on independence is another way we can "Step to Success".

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.”

My students are energetic, curious and knowledge seeking. Our school is a large public school where 100% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch due to the economic needs of our families. As a school we have a 74% passing rate for state appointed standardized tests. My students have needs beyond basic academics. They seek support regulating sensory input, organization, emotional stability and social skills. My students work to make steps to success every day.
