Work at DonorsChoose

Recognized as 2017’s Best Nonprofit to Work For by The NonProfit Times

Why choose DonorsChoose?

Our team comes from education (many are former teachers), top startups, and big name brands. They can work anywhere, but they choose to work here.

“Our staff continues to be bound by our mission. Our drive, creativity, and community keep us connected and engaged. Serving our teachers and students so that they can get what they need to grow is a satisfaction that is soul-filling.”

“It's rare to find a nonprofit that prioritizes technology and data above all else. I chose to work here because access to that type of information means that I'm able to make well-informed, quick decisions that allow our Operations team to execute against our mission.”

“I love having the opportunity to create a visible impact in classrooms across the country through relationships with our teachers, donors, and partners. Being able to do this alongside smart, passionate colleagues is what makes me excited to work here every day.”

“I joined DonorsChoose when I had no idea what I wanted to do professionally — nearly six years later, I've found a role I'm passionate about, received two promotions, and am building my career here.”

“For me, it's all about the impact. Knowing that the features I build help to support teachers and bring much needed supplies to classrooms is very satisfying.”

“I've been through 4 different sub-teams throughout my time here, and each team has taught me so much foundational knowledge on how to run an organization. It's a well-oiled machine where we have systems and processes in place to set us up for success.”

Make a real impact

The work we do directly supports public school students all over the country. More than 50% of funded projects are from Equity Focus Schools, a designation we created to help donors move the needle on racial inequity in education.

Racial equity is at the center of both our mission and employee experience. Staff attend org-sponsored diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings on topics like White Supremacy Culture and asset framing, and have the option to join one of our employee resource groups.
