The twenty six-packs of Blick acrylic paint is going to good use. All three grade levels, 6th, 7th, and 8th, have participated in bringing our monthly Character Traits to life in large art format. The following is a list of the traits and the corresponding months:
September - Respect
October - Responsibility
November - Empathy
December - Compassion
January- Attitude
February- Motivation
March - Accountability
April - Persistence
May - Trustworthiness
June - Integrity
We have completed the first two months and the Large Art Project is now on exhibition in the Library Media Center!
It is very hard to show our appreciation for the materials, but please accept our humble gratitude for the Blick paint. Without it, our scholars would have less of an opportunity to show off their artistic prowess.”
I would like to thank you for the materials we were able to purchase for our classroom. As you are aware, writing provides an important vehicle for expression and communication. No matter the age or grade level of students, diligent writing practice will boost both their skill and comfort level with revealing and relating their own thoughts and feelings. With the materials purchased such as play doh, an easel, colorful paper, markers, and crayons, my students will be able to express their ideas to their fullest. They will also be able to be creative and have fun while writing. The possibilities are endless. We couldn't have achieved this without your support. We are forever grateful!”
What a tremendous project to have funded. Our small and dilapidated makerspace now is a thriving creative depot. Each student has their own supply kit and can freely create what he or she wishes. The inventiveness has been astounding in these first couple of weeks. I love seeing how they put things together, and work together, to create their masterpieces. Each student is grateful for this hands-on experience that they have not had in grades prior. I cannot wait to see the growth they have this year after being able to create each and every day. Thank you so very much from our entire 5th grade.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Turner

Thank you so much for your generous donation! Because of you, my students will have many more opportunities to strengthen their critical and creative thinking skills using some amazing materials! For my budding engineers, you provided building materials such as Legos, K'nex, and Strawbees. For my kids that love technology, you furnished robotic Cubelets, and an invention kit called Makey Makey. For my creative artists, you supplied modeling clay and clay project books. To exercise our brains even further, you donated games like Suspend, IQ Fit and Rubik's Race. You even furnished boxes to store all of these treasures in! Your contribution will make a tremendous impact on this school year as well as years to come. We are very thankful and very excited!”

Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. My students will now have access to one of the leading ideas in education. I am so overwhelmed right now. I will be sending pics of our progress as we move forward...again, thank you so very, very, very much. This would not be possible if not for you.”

Thank you very much for donating to our Makerspace 20% Project! The students are using all of the resources to complete STEAM challenges and working in small groups using the Design Thinking Process. Each of the groups are excited to use the new resources and work together to complete their challenges. There were many happy faces when they saw all of the boxes coming into our class with all the new supplies and they couldn't wait to get their hands on all the materials. Each of the grades PreK-5 will be using the materials throughout the year. This month, we worked on team challenges and group work. Next month in groups, we will be making catapults, slime, magnets and we will be having an egg drop! The materials can be used each and every month on different projects and we are so very blessed to be fully funded in our project and we wish to sincerely thank you for supporting us!”

Everyday, five days a week, I have 5 classes rotate into the library media center ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade. I teach a lesson, students check out books and then are allowed access to the many STEAM activities that I have put together for them. The number one choice on a daily basis is our new Lego table. These kids, in the time they are able to use the table, create some amazing structures. Some are tall, some are small. They are built in the section that that kid carved out for himself, or spread out where several students are working together. One thing I never hear at the lego table is students arguing about pieces or space because I created a space where as many as 8 - 5th graders at a time can use the space to create projects. At some point during the year, I am hoping to start a Lego club for our 4th-5th graders to have time after school to come in and build for a longer period of time. Thank you for all the donations that brought this project to fruition. Onto the next one!”

We recently received the items that you donated just in time for the new school year. I am teaching 2 junior high maker classes this year and these items are a huge hit! My students were astonished by your generosity.
We got the items out yesterday and I let the students choose which items they wanted to interact with. Literally, there was something for everyone! Some kids chose to work with the robots, others chose to teach themselves how to knit or crochet, some made jewelry, and others built things using the K'Nex kits.
The variety of items that we received from your donation encourages the true embodiment of the makerspace movement. I'm thankful that my students get to have this opportunity and I'm thankful for your contribution.”
The students who attend Emerson have had to deal with many hardships throughout life. The emotional baggage they carry around with them can sometimes lead to depression, or altercations with others. However, the art and craft materials like the origami papers, string art, duct tape, colored pencils, and button maker is already making a difference in their lives by serving as a creative outlet to help them combat the traumatic experiences they have had to face early on in life.
When the students first saw the materials they could not wait to start assembling the stuff so they could "play" with it. They tore open the boxes and started reading the manuals, as well as, watching YouTube videos in order to figure out how some of the stuff worked. In short, they were engaged and excited about the materials you provided.
Once again, thank you for taking an unfathomable undertaking and turning it into an accessible opportunity.”

Ms. McKinney
