Hey there! Why complain about the poor quality of the schools in the area when there's so much you can do to easily improve upon it?
I wanted to highlight innovative projects around the time of my birthday once again that dedicated teachers in the Red Stick hope to implement to improve their students' learning experiences beyond the curriculum's expectations.
As much as I wish I could fund them all myself, if we all chip in something, we can make a positive impression on the students and express our support and gratitude to the teachers that serve our community.
Thus, I hope you'll donate today!

Thank you very much for helping my classroom purchase the math centers to use in our learning groups and whole classroom learning. The addition of these centers has had a tremendous impact on the students. They have also developed their computational thinking skills. Teaching mathematics skills to young students with high interest materials is so important. The materials that this project provided for my students will help them to learn the skills in a meaningful way. Thank you so much for your support.”
This project help my students in math tremendously. I was able to introduce two and three digit addition and subtraction using regroup with our chart and cash register. Students had to buy an item from the classroom store and make change using addition and subtraction.
I'm elated to receive the supplies for my class. I knew the activities will make learning fun. My students couldn't believe they could play on a cash register. They only saw cash registers in the store.
Our next Classroom project would be in reading, to increase our class comprehension skills.”
I want to start off by saying thank you so much for funding my class with technology. It is truly a blessing to be able to have technology that my kids can use everyday. My students are so excited when I am able to bring a group back to my table and we use the tablets to learn about our numbers and letters. They are able to play games that allow them to trace, find, and sort through the things we are learning. They are also excited about being able to play games on the tablets. This helps them with their fine motor skills. I believe the tablets are perfect for Prek because it is just the size they need for their little fingers. Everyday they ask if we can have time in the technology center. The kids are also thrilled because a lot of them don't have this technology available to them at their home. That makes me happy because that means they won't be left behind just because their family can't afford it.”
I would first like to say Thank You for your contribution to my project School Counseling Using Technology. Often times as Counselors we are overlooked when it comes to the impact we have on student/school success.
The students at our school had the opportunity to use the ipads in a group setting to complete activities that could help with their Transition to Middle school. The apps focused on Self-Acceptance and how to deal with various situations that middle school students face on a daily
basis.
The students were so excited to actually use the ipads and they were really impressed with the activity. They were allowed to express verbally and in writing what they thought about the activity. Some of the comments were "I now know to accept myself for who I am and I understand that we all different and that's ok". "This activity was fun and I'm glad they allowed you to get the ipads so that we could do this activity." and "when is the next group meeting because I really enjoyed the activity.
Again I say thanks on behalf of myself and the students at McKinley Middle Magnet School.”
First of let me thank you again for your generosity and kindness. The fact that you took your time and money to support our classroom means so much to us all. My kids were truly touched that you would be willing to help our classroom out. I want you to know that your donations went to improving student interest and scores. And believe me it worked. First off all, the biographies you helped purchase helped my students. It improved their reading levels, comprehension, and led to many interesting conversations. My students have now learned about history and heroic people that they would not have heard about otherwise for years. And they are actually interested in learning about these peoples' histories. You've opened their minds to a whole new world. Your donations also led to the purchase of Social Studies centers. By doing these comprehension Social Studies centers, students' scores began to improve. They began being more diligent in their work and it paid off. I can only imagine how it helped on their standardized tests. Because of you, these students have now felt and seen successes in their education they may not have seen otherwise. Now they will continue down a better path. I thank you. They thank you.”
I want to start off by thanking you for your generosity and kindness. Your willingness to help others has had a tremendous impact on my classroom. First of all, a new library of books excited the kids. They were so happy to have new things to read they couldn't get their hands on the books enough. They constantly ask to go to our library to pick a book, even when they should be working on something else. Because of their constant reading, they have achieved many successes. The first success was meeting their accelerated reader goals. By doing so they improved their grades and earned field trips. The kids got to experience success no matter their reading level. The second success they achieved from your generous donations was a jump in their reading levels. When I got this group of kids, over 75% of them were at least two grade levels behind. But by continuously reading and being engaged in that reading, every one of my students was able to grow at least a year in their reading level. Some even grew two to three years this year. I can only attribute that to joy your donations gave them. I thank you. The students thank you. I'm sure my principal thanks you. Please know your generosity really helped a lot of students out in the most wonderful way... Giving them the joy of reading and the confidence they needed to learn.”
The reading center has been a total success. We have had an overwhelming positive response from teachers and students. Visitors to the area have increased at-least 300%. Before the center, students were reluctant to even visit the library; however, now the come many and often. It has increased leisure reading, studying, and even building relationships though socialization among peers. During breaks teachers also use the area to collaborate. We can not thank you enough for making a positive change and climate in our school.”
Thank you so much for your generous donation. Unfortunately, all our materials were not delivered before season ended so we did not get the privilege of using all the equipment. However, a few of my hitters were able to use the Easton Bat. The bat was a big difference in singles and doubles for these kids. They were so excited to use a bat that did not leave marks on their hand.
We spent a lot of time focusing on defense this year because of our lack of offensive equipment. This summer I plan on using the tees and bats to work with a small group of girls to help bring along our hitting. We will also work with the total control balance balls to make sure we are swinging level.
This was my first year coaching at McKinley and I noticed there was a total neglect in this sport. The girls have not had any new equipment at the school for years, so your donation not only went to making them better players, but it showed them that people believe in them. Thanks so much for helping build confidence in my team.”

This classroom project was brought to life by DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation - Sports Matter and 4 other donors.
I want to start off by saying thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm going to try my hardest to put into words just how much your donation means to my students and me. The books, seat storage, dry erase boards, and writing center has improved our classroom environment immensely.
I am a first year teacher, and I absolutely LOVE teaching reading and writing. My class is center based, which allows the students to work independently and with one another. This also gives me time to work with students in smaller groups of 3-4. One center is designated strictly to independent or partner reading. The only problem was that I did not have enough books that the students could read without getting either bored or frustrated! This would lead to disruption and lessen the time spent teaching the small group. The leveled readers were the perfect way to help my students stay focused and WANT to read. YOU are helping them find their love for reading in the classroom. My ultimate goal is for my students to leave 2nd grade feeling successful and confident about reading. You have greatly helped reach this goal.
The at-your-seat storage and white boards have made such a positive impact during math class. They are so excited to write down their answer and show me what they know. We absolutely love them! The writing center has helped my students truly grasp the difference in narrative, informative, and opinion paragraphs.
I wish you could have seen the looks on their faces when I was showing them their brand new materials. I also wish you could have seen how happy it made them when I told them incredible people like you care so much about their education.”
It is such a joy to know that there are people in this world that are dedicated to helping children that they do not personally know. Words cannot express my gratitude for your support. There are so many little things that go into running a successful classroom. Organization is key, especially in the early childhood grades and having a special place for all items is a great step toward personal responsibility.
I can't thank you enough for your generous donation! My firsties are loving their tablets and they have been able to access so many things. The tablets are allowing for more movement in the classroom, rather than just seated at desks.
I look forward to teaching my students that there is a great big world of people waiting and willing to help them become the best that they can be!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Vicknair
