  • A Trinket to Remember and Remind Students of their Accomplishments!

    Funded May 14, 2023

Each student that graduated 8th grade, got a key chain with an art palette, or splat of paint or a paint brush dripping with paint. The 8th grade award students (25) each got a an art silver trinket on a key ring with a positive saying in a velvet bag. It was a special night with them getting a framed certificate and a small token of appreciation, affirmation of their hard work and accomplishments being creative in their art class in middle school.

I was able to get with this Donors Choose grant some plastic key chains for an art birthday party from Amazon so each students got an affirmation of their time in art and acknowledgment of the work they completed, creativity this year.

I was glad to be able to give each student a small thank you with your generous donation supporting this grant.”

  • Learning About Cameroon's Environment by Drawing It With Orphan Portraits!

    Funded May 5, 2023

Thank you for supporting drawing Cameroon orphan drawings and learning about their world and environment they live in. Students studied Cameroon by drawing about the environment in Cameroon and including that in the background of the Cameroon orphan drawings.

It was exciting to see the results and what they learned by viewing the finished drawings. When they are delivered to the orphans in Cameroon they will be excited to see their drawings created by students in the United States.

Thank you for supporting this project with your generosity. The project connects students in the United States with students in Africa with art and kindness.”

  • Framed Puzzles for Landscape Drawings!

    Funded May 11, 2023

Thank you for your donation so I could buy frames for the 8th grade award certificates that 8th grade studens will receive in a week at their 8th grade award ceremony with their parents and friends present. I'm excited to now be putting their certificates in their frames and having the principal sign the certificates.

The certificates are colorful and having a frame makes it official that they earned this award and it will be able to be hung on the wall at their home. Parents will be proud of them and they will be proud of their own achievement.

Half the frames will be for talented 7th graders and the pollinator gardens they drew with Google Drawing and then in color in their sketchbooks. Thank you so much for supporting STEAM with technology in the art classroom.”

  • Ending the Year Drawing Orphans From a Country in Africa!

    Funded Apr 19, 2023

Thank you for your support of drawing Cameroon orphans with The Memory Project. 6th graders have started this project learning about Cameroon and writing words in French as well for their orphan drawings going on puzzles that will be shipped to The Memory Project at the end of the school year.

The students have been working on their sketches for the puzzle drawings and will start the puzzles next once they have thought through what to put on their puzzles for the Cameroon orphans. They each have a photograph to work from for their art, thanks to your generous donation and help to make this project possible. Students have to think outside the box and think of another child their age in a different country.

There is so much learning going on with art, geography, languages, community service and the Cameroon orphans will end up with drawings of them by my students thanks to your donations.”

Middle school students are excited to learn about using the 3D pens to draw with lines of filament in 3D space. There are lots of colors for them to choose from now and experiment with.

  • Easier Transitioning Back to School With Snacks!

    Funded Jan 15, 2023

Thank you for funding chips and juice for students that are hungry transitioning back to school from being at home all day during winter vacation. Today was a short day. Students got out at 12:30. They usually eat lunch at school at 11:30. so they were hungry and let me know. . Many students told me they were hungry so having juice and healthy chips to give to them gave them food for their body and soul helped and they then after eating worked really hard on their assignments.

Thank you for your help funding snacks at this title one school were healthy food is so important for them. It's hard to learn when you are hungry.”

I see 150 students a day, ages 11-14; boys & girls. Students are in the school uniform of white top and dark bottoms every day. Most students are clean, young, eager & happy. In return I feel I want to keep that purity and innocence and give them a strong art program with fun, exciting projects. I mix in math ; English, history with the art so they are becoming stronger creative thinkers with technology while learning some core subjects. They are "teenagers" and emotional. They are in the in between child and young adult. They are very impressionable and with most of my students working n clay, using watercolors, drawing on cloth, using iPads, using oil pastels; it's their first experience and they are really excited to try. Some come from not ideal home situations, some students are homeless, live in group homes, live with relatives and school is the one constant for them. At school they are all equals.
