Listening to Help Our Future
Funded Dec 13, 2017Thank you for your incredible generosity in funding the project "Listening to Help Our Future" for my seventh grade students. It is due to your donations that students are able to enjoy many aspects of 21st Century learning that they could not access before. The headphones that were funded are used almost daily to provide differentiated instruction over all core subjects. Not only are they a wonderful teaching tool to provide individualized instruction, the headphones allow us to access programs and videos that enhance learning with fun feedback, motivating music, and ways for students to talk to each other across devices. We have had some live webinars on the computers that have connected students to one another across classrooms. Again, thank you and this could not have been possible without you!”

Funded Jul 24, 2017I am so grateful for the support of this classroom project "Scientists are Readers Too!" By donating the funds to secure monthly issues of Scholastic Science World magazine, you have enabled students to have access to current news in a fun, interactive format. My students have especially liked the web resources linked to the articles as they have games and review resources to test the student understanding of the topic. For some, this is the first time that they have had magazines to call their own. The students light up when they see the bundle of magazines or ask when they are coming next.
Thank you again for your support as my students have benefited from this non-fiction text resource that they feel is both relevant to their lives and a great source of information.”

Scopes for Scholars!
Funded Oct 4, 2014I would love to extend my deepest gratitude to all of you who helped to donate to one of the most exciting projects I have had thus far. The students were absolutely thrilled to be able to have new, easy to use microscopes and slide sets to begin their investigations into the human body. We have used the microscopes more than I had originally planned as students really became invested in learning technique and parts of the microscope to better themselves as Scientists. A group of students even wrote a proposal that some of the microscopes should be out in the room constantly so that if they finish their work early, they can challenge themselves by creating slides and becoming stronger with this form of technology. Students are now bringing in random samples (this week a student brought in their very own bread mold) and asking to find a time they can take a look at it more closely. This project has brought both passion and learning to my classroom of 7th Graders this year, and will continue to be used for many years to come.
Thanks again for supporting my classroom!”

Mrs. Hoffman
Scientists are Readers Too!
Funded Jun 12, 2014I again wanted to express my sincerest gratitude for your help in completing the project "Scientists are Readers Too!" Just as the name of the project suggested, Science is often overlooked as a place where a love for reading can be cultivated and explored. Through your generous donations my students were able to see that non-fiction text can be accessible and fun to read. We now have a Science library that students can use at any time within the classroom and the reactions of the students have been overwhelmingly positive. Often times they ask to borrow one of the donated books because the school library "isn't current". One student even went as far as creating an Environmental Club that meets during lunch time because of the inspiration she gained while reading some of the donated materials. The Pride of 2020 (the year my students are going to college) is truly thankful and excited to continue to access the books. This gift will be enjoyed by many students to come as well.
Thanks again!”

Environ"mental"ists Changing Our World
Funded Nov 18, 2013In our Seventh Grade classroom we can not express enough our gratitude for your donations to our project. Your donations have reached 100 middle school scientists; some of whom now have become serious advocates for our planet. Our project allowed us to really engage our design skills and become
engineers for our planet. The LEGOs that were donated were used in a project to have students showcase their ideas for conservation and smart use of resources as they designed green cities. This soon became a competition to see which team of students would be the most innovative in using green technology. The LEGO blocks continue to be used in class for multiple other design projects where students build and create with their imaginations.
A huge thanks for your support for my future Environmental Scientists!”

In Need of More Heart!
Funded Dec 10, 2013In our Seventh Grade classroom we can not express enough our gratitude for your donations to our project. Your donations have reached 100 middle school scientists; some of whom now aspire to be future doctors or other medical professionals. Our project allowed us to investigate the in depth workings of the human heart by allowing us to dissect a pig heart. Through study of comparative anatomy, students realized that pig hearts are closely related to the human heart and why some animals are used for valve replacements. Students can now also make connections about why it is so essential to maintain diet and exercise as some of the pig hearts contained blood clots and other abnormalities. Students identify this experience as the best lab of the year due to the hands on nature and slight "gross" factor! Their faces upon seeing the pig hearts were priceless!
A huge thanks for your support for my future cardiologists!”

We Are in Need of More Heart!
Funded Feb 17, 2013Thank you for your tremendous generosity of spirit. Thanks to you, 100 7th Grade students had the fantastic opportunity to dissect pig hearts in class this year. Truly an experience they will never forget, students were able to learn more about the human heart and components as they compared the pig heart to their own. Teaching students how important scientific skills such as following exact directions, using scalpels (eek!) wisely, and power of observation are just a few of the wonderful things that students can take with them for years to come. Some of my students even found blocked arteries and tumors! You made this effort possible.”

Scopes for Science Scholars
Funded Oct 11, 2012I cannot express my extreme gratitude for all of your generous donations. Your kindness has impacted my classroom tremendously during our human body and cell unit. Students have used the digital microscope to view bacteria, protists, and various human body cells. Students were able to collect their own water samples and view the live movement of various organisms. By being able to project the images onto a screen, we can discuss various slides as a class. This has allowed me to reach more students with the amazing wonders of microscopic life.
Thank you for your kindness, this microscope will be used for years to come!”

Science Savy Technology
Funded Mar 16, 2012I would love to express gratitude to all that helped to make this project a reality. Originally my idea was to provide my students with at least one additional piece of research technology in the classroom, but this project has provided much more than that! Students have used the iPad daily in order to write letters to penpals, look up dictionary terms they are unsure of, add value to class discussion, or to view videos to broaden their understanding of Science topics. Students are begging to use the device to ask their hundreds of "why" questions. The iPad has also turned into an incentive, keeping even previously disengaged students excited to learn and have a turn. This project has truly made them more Science and technology savvy! Thank you!”
