About Alva Public Schools

Alva Public Schools and the citizens of Alva are proud to raise and educate their children in a small town atmosphere. The Alva Goldbug is a symbol of excellence that the employees and students of the district strive to meet each day. The district employs approximately 94 certified teachers, 72 support staff, and has a current enrollment of 1,039 students.

Alva Public School students are served at five facilities in the district. These facilities include Washington Early Childhood Center (pre-kindergarten through first grade), Longfellow Elementary (second and third grades), Lincoln Elementary (fourth and fifth grades), Alva Middle School (sixth through eighth grade), and Alva High School (ninth through twelfth grade).

The district is committed to innovation in education as evidenced by our one to one technology initiative in grades six through twelve. Alva Public Schools strives to maintain small class sizes and provide quality professional development for all staff. Students attending Alva Public Schools will have extensive opportunities to become involved in activities ranging from athletics, fine arts, and agricultural programs.
