There is a ton of research that shows that flexible spaces and seating improves academic achievement in the classroom. It gives children more control of their bodies, their learning, and their environment. "Flexible classrooms produce better academic outcomes among primary school children than more traditional, static classroom designs." When giving students choice in learning, they have the ability to take ownership of the process and engage their bodies and minds in their journey for knowledge. These portable lap desks allow students to be comfortable in the classroom where they feel they can be most successful. Making choices and feeling comfortable in their environment correlates directly with student achievement.
