  • Let's Get Organized

    Thank you for your generous donations!! My project is fully funded. I just let the students know and they are so excited! I can’t wait to teach them to be organize and take that skill with them to middle school. They will need keep their lockers and supplies organized so they can get to their classes in time, turn in work on time, and be prepared to learn!”

  • Make Learning Fun With IPads!

    I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciated your generous donation to allow my classroom to receive two I Pads for our centers. Putting technology in my students hands not only allows them to work with technology (something they will constantly use in their future) but also keeps them engaged to allow me to work in small groups with students.

    The students love to use the QR reader and scan their vocabulary words to practice learning new vocabulary. When students build their vocabulary they understand what they are reading and their comprehension levels grow.

    The students also love to play math games on the I Pads. Setting them up with games that build on their foundation skills allows the students that are behind to fill the gaps in their learning in a fun, engaging way!

  • We Need to Wiggle While We Work!

    I can't begin to tell you how much we loved using our wobble chairs this year. First the students were taught the appropriate way to sit on them and the consequence should they not follow the wobble chair rules.

    I then allowed 6 students everyday swap out their chair for a wobble chair so every student was able to have a chance to have a chair for the day. They loved this and were so excited when their name was called!

    The remainder of the year the wobble chairs lived at our small group table. Students were so excited to come to our small group table to use them. Watching my students wobble and be completely focused on our lesson, engaged and participating was awesome!

    5th graders have to take a lot of tests! During our state testing I came up with a schedule where students would be able to use a wobble chair twice during tests. I even had a few students give up their chair to students who would benefit more from movement. That melted my heart!

I have the hardest working 5th graders who are setting goals to achieve major academic goals but sometimes it can be hard to sit in a desk and chair most of the day. I plan for movement and allow students to work throughout the room but sometimes that is just not enough. I have several students who can lose focus after a very short time. Flexible seating is increasing in classrooms and I want to be able to provide this type of seating for my students, especially for my students that struggle with attention and focus. Wobble chairs are a perfect way to offer my students a chance to wiggle while they work! I have seen the effectiveness of flexible seating (that include wobble chairs) in other classrooms. My goal is to acquire 6 wobble chairs so that all my students can wiggle while they work at our small group table. My small group table is used several times throughout the day which would give all my students a chance to wiggle and stay focused during our group time.
