Igniting Engaged Learning with Fire Tablets
Funded Nov 7, 2018The tablets have been a allowed us (Ms. Simone, Ms. Gabriel, and myself) to create a more engaging learning experience for the children. They enjoy using interactive technology and experiencing how technology can be used to solve problems and do research for their assignments.
This technology allows children complement their learning which is typically done with pencil and paper and textbooks. The technology gives the children an opportunity to be more interactive in how they learn.
Students these tablets because they allow them to do more hands-on learning that is more engaging. The tablets give the children an opportunity to learn using different modes of interaction in the learning process.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you very much for your generosity. Your donation towards the More Math Possibilities with Whiteboards project has allowed my students to become more engaged in the learning process.
Often students have to sit for long periods of time and, in doing so, they become restless and fidgety. By allowing them to get out of their seats and show what they have learned by working at the whiteboard, they become more engaged in the learning process.
With whiteboards, students get more excited about learning and eager to show their classmates and their teacher what they have learned.
Thank you again for helping to make my class a more engaging class for my students.”

Funded Sep 15, 2018The tablets have been a big success in our (Ms. Simone, Ms. Gabriel, and myself) classrooms. The children enjoy using interactive technology and demonstrating how they can use technology to solve problems or do research or find additional resources for an assignment.
Children are often asked to sit and work for long periods of time and work with pencil and paper and textbooks. The tablets give the children an opportunity to be more interactive and find additional ways to learn.
Some students get restless after sitting for a while so these tablets allow them to do hands-on learning that is more engaging and interesting. The tablets give the children an opportunity to learn using different modalities to better engage in the learning process.”

Funded Apr 20, 2017Thank you very much for you generous donations that have allowed us to equip our class with microscopes. With these lab instruments, our students are more fully engage in earth science and life science activities.
These microscopes allow the students to see into the micro-world in a authentic hands-on way that goes beyond just reading words from a textbook. They are now able to better understand the structure of cells and see a how micro-systems work.
With these microscopes, we are one step closer to having a fully functioning STEAM lab that will allow our students to work in a twenty-first century learning environment. Thank you again for helping some very hard working student to be the best students they can be.”

Creating Future Engineers With Lego Robotics
Funded May 12, 2017Thank you for your generous donations that allowed us to purchase LEGO robotics. These robotics has transformed our classroom because they engage the students in hands-on learning.
Students not only learn how to design robots but they also learn how to program and they learn engineering principles. The LEGO robotics is especially helpful to teachers because it comes with a fully integrated curriculum that allows the students to work on robotics throughout the year.
The LEGO robotics kit also comes with specialized software applications that allows students to get the most out of the kit. In addition, students learn about how to use robotics in space and environmental applications so it also expands their knowledge base in different areas.”

Building Dreams, Building Brain Power - Full STEAM Ahead
Funded Jan 26, 2017All the kids in class 6-3 at Grand Concourse Academy wish to thank you for donating funds to help purchase the 3D printer. Using a site called tinkercad.com, the kids have learned how to design small 3D objects that they use as prototypes to build small scale versions of buildings, bridges, and the like. In doing so, they learn how to code and how to design using math and engineering principles and rules. The excitement level with my students has increased dramatically. Many of my students now tell me they want to becomes engineers and architects. Your gift has made this possible. Thank you!”
