  • La Bella Vie through LaVie Feminine Hygiene: Menstrual Pads Needed!

    Funded Mar 12, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation to support the basic feminine hygiene care of our students. It will be a relief, especially at this time of national crisis, to be able to ensure that our ladies have what they need to keep themselves healthy. Thank you so graciously for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Asaro

  • A Library We Can Actually Access: Pt. 2

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! Thanks to donors like you, we were able to expand our reading skills to include box 2 of these high-interest, low level readers, but now that we're making progress, we needed to move onto box 3! We're so appreciative of your generous donation and your participation in helping to #FillEveryShelf! Our students truly appreciate your support!”

  • Family Engagement Through the Student Newsletter! We Need Ink!

    Funded Oct 11, 2019

This project has been a thrill for our classroom! We wanted to really boost our parent engagement this year by allowing our students to communicate with families through a student-produced newsletter, but needed ink! They are so active and engaged with being able to show their work and experiences with their families and other members of our school community, and we have you to thank!

Classrooms cannot function without basic supplies such as ink, and we're so grateful to be able to also utilize it with the intention of creating this wonderful family engagement tool. Thank you again for your support!”

  • Boogie Boarding to Vocational Success

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I have never purchased a resource that my students were more excited to use, and that includes iPads or computers! My students call their 'boogie boards' their 'TOOL' for success. When learning in the classroom, they know where their boogie board is and they are able to access it when they need it! It helps them, as students with disabilities, to take the time to visually express their work, use multiple strategies to solve problems, answer questions, and participate in peer discussions throughout the day. We are so grateful for the opportunity to have a new tool in our classroom to help our students succeed. Thank you so much in advance!”

  • High Interest Books for Self-Regulation for Students with Autism

    Funded May 13, 2019

For students with autism, self-regulation is a key contributor to much of their difficulty in social situations. My students needed additional resources for our explicit instruction in self-regulation, and you all came to the task. My students love the characters in this series, and sharing it with their reading buddies in lower classes. I work to educate the whole child throughout the school year, and these books were a nice way to share these ideas in student friendly languages. They love seeking the books out during free reading time as well! Thank you for your generous donations to our class!”

  • Jural Journalists: Ink for Our Printer to Publish Our Work!

    Funded Apr 16, 2019

Our students cannot thank you enough for your generous and swift funding of this project for ink for our printer. We have incredibly talented writers in our class, all who are motivated to present and share their work with the world. Our school, due to our students being educated in a high poverty community, is often lacking resources such as ink and paper for printing! These basic needs can really hinder our ability to showcase our students' work. We love that we are now able to show them off! Thank you so much for all of your support!”

  • Style Us With A Microsoft Surface!

    Funded Feb 17, 2019

Thank you so much for donating our new Microsoft Surface! It has been a game changer for us. This school year has been all about accessibility and ensuring that all of our students have access to high quality, rigorous education that is meaningful for them across all environments. The keyboard and stylus allowed us to access Microsoft's immersive platform to enable our students with disability to participate in the curriculum as anyone else would. We are so generous for your support in getting these tools to us!

    Thank you!”

  • Cozy Up Our Classroom!

    Funded Feb 13, 2019

I can't begin to express my excitement in our success in incorporating the materials for this project!!! Our class of students with autism is highly distractible. Our new classroom environment is set up with beautiful, cozy and inviting tablecloths, less-irritating light fixtures, new decorative lighting, and more flexible seating options. I have already seen a tremendous increase in student engagement in just the past few weeks! My students are so grateful that you were able to support us! Thank you!”

My students are amazing! They have faced and continue to face so much adversity from broken homes and challenging childhoods, and yet still demonstrate the greatest potential in the world, with the proper motivation. I teach an 12:1:1 special class in a specialized school in the South Bronx. In a poverty-rich community, with almost all students receiving free meals, my students experience their adolescence without father-, and/or in some cases mother-figures, with unstable living environments that leads to a lack of focus on education. Their lack of familial support and adversity has significantly inhibited their academic, as well as their socioemotional progress thus far. Imagine all this, now with cognitive, and physical disabilities. Given everything, my students still want to learn. They are interested in current events, and feeling as typical teenagers as they possibly can. Please donate to help my students!
