Celebrate Your Awesomeness Wall
Funded Aug 23, 2018Thank you for your kindness and donating to this project. The school year is off to a great start. The camera, accessories and extra film showed up right before the school year started. The awesomeness wall was made and ready for the student to see when they walked in the room. My goal is for the wall to be overflowing with pictures by the end of the school year.
Currently, I have two pictures on the wall of students who have shown awesomeness. One student stayed behind after class ended to pick up another groups math game they left out. He received his picture as he did this without being asked. What a kind and awesome thing to do. The other student was given their picture on the wall as I needed someone to help round out a classroom group of four, for a project. This student was with their friends and got up from his group and joined the group (not his friends) without being asked.
I have great kids, capable of awesome things. I can't wait to see what this year will bring.”

Funded Aug 22, 2018Thanks you so much for your kindness. The items were delivered right before the school year started. The students were able to walk in on the first day and see the inspirational messages on the wall and breathe in the calming essential oils.
The students and I are fans of the eucalyptus oil the most. They enjoy the fragrance and it seems to help them be calm and focused. I have also introduced calming music in the classroom during silent work time.
I have also shown Kid President videos to my students. He is very inspirational. Some of the new posters you purchased for our classroom remind me/my students of the positive and encouraging messages he sends.
Your support means so much to me and my students. It is going to be a great year!”

Funded Sep 12, 2017Thank you so much for your kindness. My students are loving the critical thinking games from the company Think Fun. The math department has a few games by the company and my students love to play them. However, we do not have a lot and they are shared by all grade levels. My students were very excited to see the new games and that they were part of our classroom.
The games have been used in several ways. At various times of my choosing (typically at the end of a unit) I hold a 15 minute celebration for anyone who has all of their outside classwork completed. This is a great motivator for students to practice and complete work outside of class time. This is to ensure they are practicing and growing their skills outside of class. Also, as a class the students are able to earn awesomeness points for following directions, being prepared for class etc. This promotes positive classroom behaviors and life skills. When the students earn 100 points they earn their celebration at lunchtime. We have food and play the brain games.
The games are fun and enhance critical thinking skills. All require building sound strategies.”

Funded Aug 31, 2017Thank you so very much for your kindness. All of the supplies you helped to purchase have really helped our classroom. It is almost half way though the school year and the pencils that I asked for are really coming in handy as many students have lost theirs. We have also used the chart paper to show how to find the mean, median, mode, range and mean absolute deviation of real world situations. Most importantly the students are keeping great track of their assessments in the colored folders. There is a student assigned to each color group who passes out and collects the folders to groups of students whenever tests are passed back. The students then write down their scores, decide if they need to reassess and look at the math goals they created (located in their folder) to see if they are achieving them.
The supplies are very much used and appreciated.”

Funded Sep 14, 2016Thank you for the wonderful gift of classroom resources to help us use technology to enhance learning and formative assessment. My students are really enjoying using the Plickers, Kindle and multicolored folders. The folders are beautiful in various bright colors. The students are divided into colors. Each color has about five students assigned to it. They place and keep track of their assessments in the folders. One student is in charge of each color. They pass out the folders when I pass back assessment. Also, they collect them when everyone has documented their scores. The folders are a great way for students to keep track of how they are doing in class. The Plickers are great as I am able to assign each student their own card. I then create quizzes online on the Plickers program. As the students answer the questions they see projected on the front board they turn their card to answer A, B, C or D. The cards are great as everyone has a different symbol on it. That way no one can look at another students card and choose the same answer. We then see instantaneously, after everyone has answer the question, how many people choose each answer. Which leads to any reteaching discussions that may need to happen. Also, on my end I am able to see which students got each individual questions correct or incorrect.
My students were extremely excited when all of the materials arrived. I told them when I received the shipping notification. They couldn't wait for me to open the box when they were delivered to class. They were excited to see all of the designs of Plickers and how they work. It makes me excited when students come into class and ask if we are going to use the Plickers today.
I am always looking for ways to enhance the learning experience in my classroom. Thank you for donating to my project and keep your eyes open for great things to come for me and my students in the future.”

Funded Aug 7, 2016Thank you for the wonderful gift of classroom resources to help us raise our whiteboards up and show our understanding with pride. My students are really enjoying using the paddle white boards. The boards are beautiful in various bright colors. They are two sided. One is a plain whiteboard and one is a sleeve where you can put in many different types of math templates. The students have the opportunity to use templates such as graph paper, pie charts and number lines. Templates are updated often on the KleenSlate website which makes the opportunities to show learning in different ways limitless. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to express their math understanding in multiple ways.
My students were extremely excited when all of the materials arrived. I told them when I received the shipping notification. They could't wait for me to open the box when they were delivered to class. They were excited to see all of the colors of paddles and types of sheets they could put into the sleeves to show their understanding. It makes me excited when students come into class and ask if we are going to use the paddle white boards for class.
Most recently in class the students used their boards to show show their understanding of rational numbers. We reviewed addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of decimals and fractions. The students were able to choose which side of the paddle they wanted to use to show understanding.
I am always looking for ways to enhance the learning experience in my classroom. Thank you for donating to my project and keep your eyes open for great things to come for me and my students in the future.”

Help Us to Keep Our Minds and Pencils Sharp
Funded Aug 11, 2015Thank you for the wonderful gift of classroom resources to help us keep our minds and pencils sharp. My students are really enjoying using the electric pencil sharpener. The wall sharpener in our classroom does not work very well. The new sharpener is quite a bit more efficient. The Perplexors and Math Bafflers are a huge hit. My students love to be challenged to go above and beyond their current understanding. They enjoy pushing their boundaries of what they know, to enhance their critical thinking skills. The books are also great as they relate math critical thinking to real life situations that the students can relate to. Not only do the activities in the books encourage critical thinking, they promote higher level thinking the students can use in context to use in their daily lives. I love hearing the "oh, I get it. This is why I need to know how to do this". Thank you for helping provide that opportunity to me and my students.
My students were extremely excited when all of the materials arrived. They can't wait to get to class and use the good pencil sharpener. Also, when students finish early with work, I tend to hear can I do more critical thinking work. It warms my heart to see students enjoying math. So much so that they want to do more. Thank you for giving that opportunity to my students.
Currently in class we are working on algebraic expressions. The students are really enjoying algebra and the exploration that comes with it. We have used algebra tiles to help guide how to create algebraic expressions, along with how to combine algebraic expressions.
I am always looking for ways to enhance the learning experience in my classroom. Thank you for donating to my project and keep your eyes open for great things to come for me and my students in the future.”

Help Us Be an Organized and Productive Classroom
Funded Jul 30, 2015Thank you for the wonderful gift of classroom resources to help us be an organized and productive classroom. My students are using the caddies full of supplies every class. They house all of the supplies the students need for the class. This has reduced transition time by quite a bit. Instead of having to dig through supplies or remember certain supplies they are provided for the students. For example, many days we do warm up activities on index cards. Index cards are housed in the caddies. The students come in, grab one (a pencil can be found in the caddy if they forgot one) and get right to work. Also, almost daily we do whiteboard/dry erase board activities. This could be a warm up, review, group work and beyond. The whiteboards are house beneath the caddies on each table and whiteboard markers can be found in the caddies. Gone are the days of having to pass out supplies, which would take away precious teaching moments. With your kindness we have become more efficient and have more learning time in the class period. Thank you for helping provide that opportunity to me and my students.
My students were extremely excited when all of the materials arrived. They enjoy having all of the needed supplies in front of them during class. Also, they can not wait for me to draw names each day to see who will be sitting on the stability balls. It is a great reward to get them motivated to do well in class and earn tickets into the drawing to sit on them.
