A Class Divided...
Funded Jun 23, 2020Thank you so much for funding my project, "A Class Divided". Due to COVID-19, I was teaching remotely, which caused me to postpone this novel study. We have finally returned to the classroom in a hybrid model so I am happy to say, we have been reading our novel for the past three weeks!
My students are loving this novel. I transformed my classroom into Germany and separated students (randomly) by the Berlin Wall. One of the activities I incorporated to demonstrate the difference between east and west is that students in the west received three cookies each, while students in the west received one cookie to share amongst them. They got the message loud and clear. :)
Each day we read two-three chapters and they beg for more. We will be finishing the novel this coming week and will end with a culminating project.
I want to thank you again because this has been one small way to bring normalcy to my classroom in such a strange and challenging year.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Day
Readers are Leaders!
Funded Nov 17, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donations. Your thoughtfulness has truly helped my students.
Because of your generosity I was able to acquire many books for my class room library. I ordered many books about sports since I have numerous boys in my classes who do not enjoy reading and I have already seen the excitement from many of the boys asking about the books. I created a checkout list for the books and already have had several students checking out the books.
I am so excited! I spoke with my classes and shared how I really want them to learn to love to read as much as I do, and I personally chose books that I thought they would be interested in reading.
I can't wait to see the checkout list fill up! Thank you again so much! I truly appreciate all you have done for my students and me.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Day
