We Need to Wiggle!
Funded Dec 7, 2015I can't even begin to tell you how thankful I am for the Wobble Seats. The students are LOVING these stools. I am currently using these stools at my guided reading table. Students have the opportunity to choose a regular stool or a wobble stool each day, when they come to join my reading groups and math groups. Many of my students have daily struggles to focus and pay attention. The physical movement allows the students to release energy and still focus on learning.
When my students first saw the stools they were SO excited! They wanted to know what they were and why I got them. We had a long talk about the fact that some of us do better in school when we are focused and ready to learn. Initially, I gave the students some time to test out the stools and determine if they were their best fit for each child's needs.
I currently teach the most struggling students in our third grade. These stools are allowing students with ADHD, sensory needs, and just active third graders the chance to be successful learners. The stools are used daily during guided reading and math groups. These stools will continue to support my students for years to come!”

Funded Mar 31, 2014When the boxes arrived with AMAZON on the side, the kids got excited and wanted to know what we had gotten in the mail! As I started opening the boxes, the students saw the words Kindle on the side and started getting SO excited! Their eyes were wide and their mouths open! It was like Christmas morning! They all were asking questions about the Kindles and if they would be using them! So, when students found out that yes, in fact they would be using them, they were thrilled.
Since receiving the Kindles and Kindle Fire, the students have used them on a daily basis. They have already made an impact on my students' learning. As of now, I have downloaded a variety of books on the Kindles. One area of concern in my classroom is that many children choose to read books that are way too hard. To help keep them excited to read, but reading books on their levels, I have put just right books on my Kindles. So when a student grabs a Kindle to read, he/she is reading a book that is going to help him/her grow as a reader.
The Kindle Fire has been a great help in my classroom as well. The Kindle Fire has book features that read the story aloud to students as well as having students answer questions about the texts that the students are reading. I have English Language Learners as well as struggling readers that benefit from having the text read aloud once so that they learn the words that they don't already know. The Kindle Fire also allows for students to use spelling apps, sight word apps, and more!
Overall, the donation that you provided for my students has made a great educational impact this year and will continue to impact my students for years to come!”
