There's an APP for That!

Funded Dec 19, 2014

My students were very excited when I brought out our new iPad! They thought it was pretty neat that they would be able to use it in our classroom. I know they look forward to using it each day and they seem to be more focused on what they are working on for the day.

I am currently using the iPad for my low performing students. We are using it during Guided Reading each day. These students are working on apps that are building their reading fluency and comprehension. They are also doing some activities that are reinforcing their math fluency by practicing math facts. I plan on using the iPad more with the whole group when we get to our Nonfiction Research Writing Projects in May. We are going to use some writing apps to help with our research and be able to put together a video to show during our parent night. I am still searching and learning new ways and apps to be able to incorporate the new iPad more in our daily work in the classroom.

Our new iPad has definitely given a boost to my students' focus on what they are working on. It has helped my lower performing students have more confidence in what their reading and they have an excitement to sit down and work harder. They feel more successful and are more willing to sit down and try. I know that our iPad will continue to help boost their excitement for learning.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Rowland
