  • Let's Have a Cultural Pow-Wow!

    Words can not express how grateful I am to you. The gift you have given my students of books to learn about the Lakota Indians was awesome. The students are learning some life lessons about truth, humility, and love through this book. Many of my students (and I) claim some percentage of Native American ancestry. Learning Native lessons has been an eye-opening experience.

    My school, as with most others, is facing a budget shortfall. Only the necessities are purchased. My class is an elective class. Donors like you help students to reach across cultures even when budgets are tight.

    Without donors, like you, many classrooms around the nation would be in need of books and supplies. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your donation means a lot to me and my students.”

  • Multicultural Literature--History

    I can not begin to express to you the thanks I have in my heart. My students and I are so very grateful for the gift of books you have given us. The students and I are using the books to see how history may have differed from what we have always been taught. We are learning (together) how many different cultures influenced the history of our country.

    Our school, like many others, is going through a budgeting crunch. Without the generous support from donors, like yourself, my students would not have had these books to use this year.

    Many classrooms across the country would do without needed books and supplies if donors, like yourself, did not help us. Thank you so much for believing in the education of today's youth.”

My students are some of the brightest in NC! The school has been an Honor School of Excellence for 4 straight years! The population of the school is only about 30% minorities. In order for the students to really experience the cultures of students who sit in class with them daily, I want to start a Multicultural Literature class. In this class, the students can travel the world in books, plays, and stories; they can see the cultures of their classmates and friends.

About my class
