We Want to Read, Please!
Funded Jun 23, 2020We are just thrilled to finally be back to brick and mortar school this school year and my little darlings were more than ready to start kindergarten so they could learn to read! Thank you so much for helping them reach that goal!
There is so much for a kindergarten student to learn before they are able to read independently! The early days of kindergarten are spent establishing early literacy skills such as learning the front and back cover of a book, turning the pages correctly, reading left to right, top to bottom, and learning that words are made up of letters and understanding that printed words have meaning. Once the students have these basic literacy foundational skills in place, they are ready to use those skills to learn to read simple books with repetitive text, familiar sight words, and fun and engaging stories. The books that I received through your generous donations have all of these things that students need to start reading! Most of my students are now readers and love these books because they contain familiar characters throughout the set and are able to read them independently.”

Funded Nov 13, 2019The excitement that filled the room when these boxes arrived was difficult to contain and I was just as excited as the children! The squeals of delight as they opened the packages and begged to start playing with the new items right away was just confirmation that the work on my part and the support and contributions of those of you that made this happen was much more than I could have asked for. I am so full of gratitude to be able to present these items to my students and could not have done so without your support. Thank you for your gift to bring play back into learning!”

Comfy Carpet Time
Funded Aug 2, 2019I cannot thank you enough for your contribution towards my Comfy Carpet Time project. When the rug was delivered, the students were so excited to have a clearly defined area in which to sit during large group learning time.
Not only does it give the students their own personal space and a comfortable place to lay in the floor, but the alphabet and matching phonics pictures become a part our learning games. We can play games such as Marching Around the Alphabet in which students march around the rug until the music stops and then finds a letter to stand on. When the teacher points to them they have to name the letter they are standing on. This rug has been a great addition to my classroom and I am looking forward to using for many years to come. Thank you again for your help in funding this rug.”

Teaching With Tech!
Funded Sep 20, 2018Oh, how I wish you could have been in my classroom on the day the new technology equipment arrived! My students were so excited to see what was in the boxes and squealed with delight while I opened each box and explained what they would be used for. They loved the colorful iPad cases and it will make organizing iPad centers much easier for me. I can assign each student to a specific iPad color based on their academic level. For example: The higher achieving students needing enrichment games and activities will use the blue iPads which have more challenging and enrichment games installed on it. Students needing intervention and remediation skills will use green iPads with lower level skills installed on them.
We also received an OSMO starter kit that makes using an iPad a little more interactive. The students will use tangible letter, number, color tile manipulatives to complete activities and then use the camera/video features on the iPad that lets the students know when they have completed the activity correctly and allows the game to be self checking.
Thank you so much for your interest and support of these new materials that will better my students' education. I truly appreciate your generosity.”

Funded Jan 26, 2018My students are loving our new label printer! We have found so many more uses for it than my original plan. In addition to my students sticking the labels in their math and writing journals, I have also created game cards/flashcards with the labels. One of the most popular games involves me giving each student a sticker to wear all day with a number 0-10 on it. When it is time to line up for special classes, lunch, etc, I call out an addition or subtraction sentence (2 +3) and the students that are wearing the answer get to line up. This makes learning fun and an all day experience. I have also used the label maker for field trip names tags, journal labels and many other uses. Thank you so much for helping me purchase this new learning tool for my classroom!”

Funded Jan 26, 2018I am very pleased to let you know that my grant project "Writing at the Creation Station" has been a great success so far! The students love the new writing resources and learning materials. With the grant money, I was able to purchase writing materials and activities and resources that allow students to be creative in their writing activities. They have been able to incorporate art and creativity into their writing.
Thank you so much for your generosity and giving me the opportunity to provide my students with resources that will allow them to learn creatively.”

Funded Jan 26, 2018I absolutely could not wait to write my impact letter! I cannot thank you enough for you generous gift in helping me get this project funded for additional Hokki Stools (Wobble Seats) and it has been much easier to give students ample time to use the stools. The additional stools allow half of the students to enjoy them for half of the day and then we rotate to allow the other half of the class to use them. When students use them they seem to be more focused on their work and seem to be less distracted than when sitting in a normal chair. They are certainly a great treat and make sitting still much more tolerable for little ones that need to move.
Thank you so much for helping me get this project funded for my students! I am so grateful to you!”

Funded Sep 9, 2016I absolutely could not wait to write my impact letter! I cannot thank you enough for you generous gift in helping me get this project funded for Hokki Stools (Wobble Seats) and it has been more of a success than I could have hoped for. I was a little nervous about the possibility of the stools becoming more of a distraction, but it has been the total opposite. Every student that has used them has been more focused on their work and seem to be less distracted than when sitting in a normal chair.
We only received enough for half of the class to use them at a time so the students take turns throughout the day to give everyone a chance to enjoy them for half of the day. The Wobble Stools have been such a success that I have already written another grant project in an attempt to get a full class set.
Thank you so much for helping me get this project funded for my students! I am so grateful to you!”

Funded Aug 8, 2016We received our new materials for "We've Got the Whole World in Our Hands" during the second week of school. My little ones were so excited about opening new "toys" and were eager to find out what all of the materials were for and how to use them.
Our first hands-on science experiment involved using eye droppers and test tubes to mix primary colored water to create the secondary colors. They were so excited and told me more than once that is was just like magic! We have also already had a chance to explore the globe and learn that it is a model of Earth. The students were so excited to locate the oceans, their continent, their country, and their state.
Thank you so much for your generous donations to get these materials in my students' hands. If they are this excited about the few simple, materials we have used in the first 3 weeks of school, I cannot wait to see how they react once we get to use the rest of the materials throughout the school year! Thank you for helping me instill this love for science and social studies in my students!”

Funded Dec 31, 2015There are no words to adequately express my thanks to you and the DonorsChoose.org program for the opportunity to positively impact my students' learning experiences. My project was titled Learning Through Play and that is exactly what is currently happening in my classroom with the addition of the new learning materials that came as a result of my funded DonorsChoose.org grant.
The learning games and materials keep my students actively engaged in their learning through the use of hands on materials that are fun and reinforce our curriculum standards.
Again, thank you so much for contributing to my project and impacting the lives of our precious little ones!”
