Eager Readers: Second Graders Ready to Read

Words cannot express how grateful I am for the opportunity to have received so many amazing books for my students to use in Guided Reading. I am fortunate enough to be moving up a grade, and I will have some of my same students. These students, along with my new students, will have the opportunity to read and learn from these books.

I am eager to create lessons to accompany these texts. My students love activities during and after their Guided Reading texts, and these books are so engaging it will be a breeze to create these materials.

I wish that I could have videoed my students' reactions when we opened up our Donors Choose boxes. They were intrigued and excited to see what the boxes contained. When we opened up the boxes and they saw the books, they were amazed and excited. The students realized at once that these books were to be used during Guided Reading because of the quantity.

Thank you so much for your generosity, kindness, and appreciation for education. As a first year teacher, I have spend hundreds of dollars on my classroom. It is because of people like you that teachers still have the drive to teach and make their classrooms a place where learning is never forced, but fun.”
