While most middle class schools have the advantage of technology at their fingertips, we are not so fortunate. Unfortunately, we are in a low social economic school with very limited access to technology. My students have very little access to the outside world. The school’s population is 98% Hispanic and the majority of students are second language learners. Most of our students have very few opportunities to explore new places and little access to resources that can enhance their learning. Very few of our students have ever been to the zoo, the beach, or the mountains, and most do not have access to the Internet, or computers. We try to bring the world to our students through pictures, books, and videos, but our classroom has only one computer and we do not have a television or a DVD player in our classroom.
