The funding you have provided for magazines will help students learn to comprehend and appreciate current, non-fiction reading material. In addition, I will be able to provide cross-curricular connections between literacy and social sciences.

Help Keep Us Current!
Funded Sep 28, 2011Just a small token of gratitude for your generous donations to our classroom. The Scholastic Magazines that you donated arrive weekly and the students always look forward to reading about current events. They particularly love the "news quiz" on the back of each issue. It is kind of like a trivia game - I can relate, trivia is fun!
The pictures show a few ways we use Scholastic News in our classroom. We use the issues to practice reading non-fiction texts, learn new vocabulary, practice reading fluency, enhance writing skills and build oral presentation skills.
Thank you again for recognizing a need in our community. I greatly appreciate your support, as do the 19 little people I'm surrounded by everyday. ”
