Safe Hands-On Learning for Kindergarten Friends
Funded Nov 30, 2020This project has made all the difference in my students! Due to pandemic requirements, in the early childhood setting, we had to remove all hands on materials and developmentally appropriate play materials because students had to share. Due the amazing generosity of donors, our students were able to receive individual materials that didn't require sharing. When the items arrived we were still in the virtual setting. Once we came back in person, we revealed all of the items to the students! Their excitement was abundant! They were so eager to use all of the materials! Their favorite items were the writing boards that we used daily during Reading and Writing.
Our classroom population of typical learners and special education students benefited from these materials because it gave them the opportunity to have hands on materials to enhance their learning. We are so grateful to the donors generosity and kindness towards our students!”

This classroom project was brought to life by New Castle County and one other donor."Weight" for Me!
Funded Apr 22, 2014This project was very important for the math development of the students in this classroom. The students were so excited on shipment day to see all of the scales they received! Our district only provided one scale for the classroom to utilize during the unit on measurement. These children are the youngest learners in the school and rely on materials that they can manipulate with their hands.
Your generous donations allowed small groups of children to investigate measuring using these scales. In the past, they had to take turns since we only had one. Some children would go days without having the opportunity to measure using a scale. Now each child has access to using the scales for math investigations. Learning about mathematical concepts such as more/less, heavy/light has been much easier by the use of the scales.”

Let's Find Out! Kindergarden Reading Explorers!
Funded Aug 9, 2011This is a small token of my appreciation for the very generous donation to my classroom! My students use the interactive software daily! They have learned initial sounds, ending sounds, and rhyming words. We use the Lakeshore Learning software every day in our large group time, and the students independently use the materials at literacy centers time.
My students really enjoy the Weekly Readers. We have special reading time with our First Grade friends and the Weekly Readers are a huge hit! The easy text and meaningful illustrations motivate my students to read.
With our country facing very difficult financial hardships, making a donation in this amount was very generous! Words cannot express how thankful my students and I are for these materials. It has made a tremendous difference in the lives of my students!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Williams
