STEM Bins for Inspirational Mornings
Funded Aug 14, 2024I apologize for the delay, if you know anything about education, you know we stay extremely busy when we are with kiddos. I cannot express our appreciation for the STEM Materials you provided for our classes at Union. Our students are excited to come in each morning, participate in hands on activities and softly talk with their friends before the day begins. Of course we could continue our day without these items, but our day is so much BRIGHTER getting the chance to use our imagination first thing.
When you think about our future, you want to hear about people being kind, compassionate, creative, and problem solvers. I truly believe that you have helped our kiddos enforce all of those traits by giving to our STEM bins in class.
Thank you doesn't come close to how much we appreciate YOU!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Cumbee

Funded Jan 30, 2019Words cannot express how these resources have been continually used for years. Students have been engaged using the play-doh for multiple STEM projects. Students have used the human body models and STEM resources to help support the learning of the Human Body in 5th Grade. The 3-D virtual reality shirt has been unbelievable and still is used on a regular basis to help enhance our curriculum.
You have contributed on and above to help support the learning of all of our 5th grade students and we greatly appreciate your dedication to learning. Amazing people like each of you, support our classrooms and progressively move our schools forward. Thank you for providing these materials so that our learning can be hands on and exciting.”

Funded Aug 21, 2018Well as I'm sure you're aware, Hurricane Florence hit us pretty hard in this region of NC. We took a leave of 21 days of school. That delayed a little of our science explorations, but not for long. We are happy to announce we have been doing hands on science every few days and large scale science rotations once a week.
We have used the bins to discover how different bird beaks work in the estuary ecosystems. We explored and replicated deep sea hydrothermal vents with the glass beakers and food coloring. Students have worked to create different ecosystems in containers and create a self watering system replicating the water cycle, tested how much water a cloud can hold... the list goes on. It is so wonderful to have all the supplies within an arms reach to provide hands on learning for children each day. The math teachers needed to even set up a baking factory and they used all the measuring instruments and table clothes. All of this would not be possible without your generous donation.
We cannot thank you enough for all the materials. We are so excited to use the digital scales as we make our way into matter as well as setting up an emergency room as we study human body. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Funded Nov 19, 2016I cannot thank you enough for the supplies to assist in organizing our math groups. They have been absolutely perfect for organizing dry erase markers, rulers, review cards and math manipulatives. Something so simple that helps make our everyday math groups easy to organize would have cost me so much from my personal budget. I am so grateful to have such amazing supporters such as you. I am proud to be a teacher to help better prepare our youth to be eager learners and problem solvers. Mrs. Cumbee's World Changers will make you proud! T”

Captivating Young Readers, One National Geographic at a Time
Funded Jul 27, 2016I cannot thank you enough for not only supporting me as an educator but for donating to my students through one of the most beloved non-fiction magazines for kids and adults alike, National Geographic.
At the beginning of the year, I explained the wonderful grant you had provided for them. They were excited, however, they didn't fully understand until we received our first subscription. They were beyond excited! The smart board activities that accompany the materials are so useful and engaging.
We have read in detail about different animals and their adaptations with various teeth. We have learned about the different moon phases and different pictures that are 'out of this world' to support new facts we are learning. We are learning not only about our environment, but how to change and improve our habitats nearest to us. Our kids are thinking globally about the world around them and the global impact they personally have.
Although they have only used two in the classroom to date. They are eagerly waiting for next months' issue. My team teachers are equally excited about using the editions as well. You have ultimately engaged 105 fourth graders in super fun, engaging texts and pictures which supports their non-fiction reading skills. They will never understand how you have impacted them in providing one of the best non-fiction magazines in the world.
I cannot thank you enough for not only supporting our kids, but for supporting our teachers and my classroom. From the bottom of my teacher heart, THANK YOU! Thank you for making a difference in the life of my kids and a big kid (me!).”

Funded Nov 7, 2015I wish to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support to our classroom. Without your assistance hands on learning wouldn't have been possible. Students were so excited to receive hands on math to make it more meaningful and engaging. The Versatiles are so amazing as students can practice the math skills in small groups and check them instantly. This as you know is so important to have immediate feedback, but allows me to continue working in other small groups. The Versatiles and the Magformers will be an invaluable tool for many years to come. Thank you from the bottom of my teacher heart!”

Learning Laptop Station
Funded Feb 5, 2015Thank you all so much for your belief in my teaching and reaching students. We have had such a tremendous time being able to create a new laptop station in the classroom. Additionally, we have been able to show videos in small groups, investigate and do web searches, and basic reading of up to date informational articles in the news (which I think is very important). I'm even more excited to make stations this summer to enhance my classroom next year. Thank you for your continued support. I love you guys!!!! Tara”
