Cooking in the Classroom!
Funded Oct 9, 2015Thank you donors for helping to fund this project!! It is so amazing that we have a "stocked kitchen" in the classroom for our use. We have had some cooking projects that have been really fun and educational! It has been great to be able to link our school's nutrition program and extend their learning from those classes to practically learn skills and understand how food works! We have learned how important it is to be precise in baking and how incredibly genius crockpots are. Here are some projects we have had: applesauce making, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, pancakes, biscuits, pioneer break from our Oregon Trail social studies unit just to name a few. Now that we finished our fractions unit, students are making more connections about the real life practical applications of math!
So thank you, thank you for helping make this project come to life and get students engaged and excited about math and cooking. Thank you!”

Chairs for Our Classroom!
Funded Aug 24, 2015Thank you so much for funding this project! Students were ECSTATIC when we received our new chairs a couple weeks ago. They are so comfortable with flexible backs and large seats. I have not had any students lean back in their chairs and it is very sturdy. They bring so much more color into the classroom and we are just loving it! We appreciate your support to make our learning environment the most comfortable and happy place that it could be. Please visit if you are able to and check them out! Thank you!”

Basic Needs: Pencil, Markers, and Binders!
Funded Apr 13, 2015Thank you for helping us get supplies for our classroom! It is so difficult to get all the supplies we need especially towards the end of the school year, so it was really helpful to get them donated. The binders will be used as math binders and there is enough for all students to get one. It is also great that the binders and pencils are all uniform so there is equity and students don't have to ask families to get more supplies for school. They were extremely excited for the new pencils and are very grateful that they are nice mechanical and colorful pencils! Thank you so much!”

Funded Apr 7, 2015We just received our vacuum on Friday and we are SO happy in Room 307!! We love to clean our classroom and to keep it that way - this vacuum will help us to do just that. The vacuum cleaner is so nice and works well and is quiet too. It worked nicely on the carpet as well as the hard surfaces, picking up all the little lead pieces and papers that have been dropped all over the floor. Please check back to see the pictures of our clean classroom and our students who are thrilled for the new cleaning tools!”

Funded Apr 1, 2015Thank you so much for donating to this project! The tables that were donated in this project have made such a huge impact in my classroom. Students are adjusting to not having their own desks, but the transition has been smooth. There is so much more space in the classroom that is not being taken up by huge desks. We are able to flexibly and easily change up the classroom set up for different groupings and configurations. The classroom feels cleaner and brighter and it has been the perfect timing with spring and the wonder weather! We are in love with our new tables and we appreciate the support that you have given in this project!”

Funded Mar 4, 2015My students were so excited to see new math games and manipulatives (but mostly the games!) on the shelves this week. As you can tell from the pictures, this project that so many different hands-on materials to support math learning and engagement in the math! It helps students get excited and learn to love math rather than always working with paper/pencil. At this age, I don't even have to explain how to play the games and they just get right into it! The games especially will be great for enrichment for students who finish their work early and for rainy day recess games. As I transition into teaching mostly math for next year, these supplies will help all the students that I will be teaching at all the different levels. Thank you so much!”

Book Clubs: Our Favorite!
Funded Dec 19, 2014Thank you so much for donating to this project! As I often say, I love to teach reading and it is most of my students' favorite time of the day. As a teacher, I find so much joy in the excitement that my students have when we get new books into the classroom. We do a book raffle sometimes when it is a few books (students choose their favorite and we raffle off who gets to read it first), but when we get a whole box of books, all students are able to get a new book to read and get excited about! Especially with this book, I asked for book sets so that we could start new book clubs. We will be diving into a fantasy unit soon, and I am looking forward to the conversations we will have with the new books! Thank you!”

Can't Get Enough Chromebooks!
Funded Oct 5, 2014If you walk into our classroom at any point in the day, you will find at least a few students working on the Chromebooks for research or keyboarding/publishing writing purposes. It is really amazing how incredibly quick my students have become in troubleshooting and figuring out how to use these Chromebooks in a variety of ways. They are highly engaging and with so many in my classroom now, I know that they are being used effectively and with purpose. Thank you also for helping to donate for new covers for our Chromebooks. It was confusing at first with all of the Chromebooks being the same color, but now with the bright colorful covers, it is clear which need to be charged and who is using what. I could go on and on, but I encourage you to look at the pictures to see how much they love and are good at using out new technology!”

Chromebooks in the Classroom!
Funded Sep 15, 2014You wouldn't believe the squeals and excited faces as I showed my students the brand new Chromebooks that arrived in our classroom this past week. Some had never seen Chromebooks and when I opened it up, they were amazed to see that it was like a mini-laptop! I talked to them about the different apps that we could purchase and how we will be using them to publish some of the writing pieces starting next week!
As I mentioned in the project request, our district has been moving toward more digital-based standardized tests. Today was actually our first day with a new academic measuring tool that uses the computer. It was hard to watch some of them struggling with their keyboarding skills and the frustration that it brought. I explained to them that we will be practicing more of our keyboarding skills and computer navigating skills.
Thank you SO much for your donation and for choosing this project to fund. My students and I are so thrilled to begin using them and so thankful to you all.”

Books, Books, and More Books!
Funded Oct 20, 2011Thank you for your donation, donors! It has been a struggle to keep up with the amount of books my students have been reading and to get new boxes of books was so exciting for both my students and me! I have moved up in teaching grades from K/1 to 1st and 2nd graders. When this transition happened, I realized that my level of books were just too limited for my 2nd graders! They were reading through all of the ones I already had. Now, my library is more broader in genre and range of levels. Thank you for making this happen!”
