Thank you so much for your support of my classroom! I can not wait to get these books in the hands of my students! They’ll help to enforce our math and science curriculum while making learning more fun! I know my students will love these books! Thank you again!”

  • Reading to Expand Our Horizons

    Funded Aug 15, 2019

Thank you for your support in donating new books to our classroom! These will be utilized as read aloud stories to teach various academic and social skills. My students love listening to books being read to them, and these new books are definitely increasing the variety of books we have to read as a class! While students are listening to books being read to them, they are not only learning the concepts taught in the stories, but they are also able to listen to someone model how to read a story with correct expression and fluency.”

  • Experiencing Science through Books and Movies

    Funded May 8, 2018

Your generosity for the donation of these new books and videos to our classroom will help students for many years to come! These books have high interest topics that correlate to our state standards and are topics that my students will enjoy reading and learning about. Books are a huge part of a classroom - and when books are of high interest to the students, they are more willing to pick up a book and read. As a teacher, it is so fun to teach through picture books, and with these new resources, my science class will be so much more beneficial for my students!

My students this year have been enjoying these new additions to our classroom, and the great thing about the books is that they will be here for many years to come. You have not just impacted the education of my 17 third graders, but you have positively impacted the education of hundreds of third graders in the future!”

  • Listening to Reading to Become Better Readers!

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

Thank you very much for your generosity in the donation towards a new set of listening centers for my classroom. My students were excited to receive these new resources and couldn't wait to get into them!

We received three personal CD players, books, and the accompanying books on CD. I teach fourth grade Reading and Language Arts and my students don't have many resources at home. Many of these students struggle with reading. The majority of my students have probably never been read to at home, either. I try to read as much as I can to my students, for this reason, but it's impossible to do so as much as I'd like to! However, with these listening centers, the students have many more opportunities to listen to reading.

By listening to these books on CD, students are able to listen (and read along with) books of high interest to them, all while listening to how the books are read. This helps with their fluency as they read, and even as they speak. This project has boosted my students academically and I can already see a huge difference in their abilities.

It's because of your generosity that my students' education was impacted for the better.”

  • But I Can't See It!

    Funded May 17, 2014

Thank you very much for your gracious donation towards the purchase of the document camera for my classroom. My students were so excited to see this new technology brought into the classroom this year. Even though I have never had a document camera before, one of their teachers last year had a similar camera, and the students were excited to help me "learn" how to use it!

We use this document camera in many different ways to best benefit my students' educational experience. I will show a worksheet/activity under the camera for step-by-step instructions on how to answer the problems, the students have shown their work under the camera, which projects onto the board (they love this, because they love seeing a huge copy of their writings, etc), and when I'm reading a story to them, they love when I show the pictures under the camera and project it so they can see. Even though they are fourth graders and feel like they are too old to sit on the carpet and listen to me read a story, I know they secretly love it because they love when I show the book under the camera!

The addition of this camera to our classroom has not only boosted the students educationally, but has also boosted their self esteem. When they are writing new pieces of fiction, and they know there is a chance that they could get to project their writing onto the board using the document camera, they are so excited to write and their creativity is boundless!

It's all thanks to your generosity that my students education has been impacted for the better.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carper

  • Help Us Become Top Readers!

    Funded Dec 31, 2013

Your support on my project is very appreciated! My students were so excited to recieve these new resources, and I'm excited to be able to use the resources again in the future with other students! I have used these whiteboards and hot dots activities in both classroom settings and in small group tutoring sessions.

These resources came at a much needed time - state SOL testing review time! The students have used the whiteboards as we've reviewed testing materials to select their answers, and show them to me, without having to yell out their answers - which gives every student the opportunity a chance to succeed!

With the use of the whiteboards and the hot dots activities, my students' have become more actively engaged in their learning. They are using these materials often and are enjoying their time! Thank you again for your support!”

  • If I Can't Touch It, I Can't Learn It Math Centers

    Funded Feb 19, 2013

I cannot express my gratitude enough for your support of new materials for my classroom! At the start of the year, my students were easily frustrated in math and they didn't find learning fun. Because of the lack of funds and resources at school, it was not easy for me to get the materials I needed to make the learning environment fun.

However, with your support, my classroom is now stocked with math manipulatives, games and centers. The students have been using these materials for a few weeks now and they are really learning a lot. My students are not just learning the math concepts they are required to know, but they are having fun at the same time!

Thank you again for your support of my students and please know you are making a difference in the lives of these children!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carper

My students live in a low-income area and often don't have access to resources outside the classroom. Because of this, I want to make sure that they have access to all kinds of resources while at school to best help their educational journey. With the addition of new resources to our classroom, I know that we can bring out the full potential of my students and raise their self-confidence while at school. With the ever increasing rigor of the state standards and assessments, now is the time to help these children!
