Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students come into my class everyday eager to learn something new everyday. I always remind my students that everyday is a new day and with a new day new things are to come.

My students are 5 and 6 years old.

They have already learned all of their letter names and sounds, numbers 1-100 and are continuing to build on more and more each day. They also come from many different backgrounds. My students are also learning that since they are not from the same cultural backgrounds that they do not do all of the same things. Our school is what is called an "open concept school." Meaning that the openness of the floor plan allows for maximum learning.

My Project

My students will be able to physically move around on the map rug to locate continents and oceans. Studies have shown that if you include movement with an activity, students are more likely to remember what the lesson is about. I try to also include some kind of movement with each activity.

My goal is to always have my students succeed, whether it be at home, school, church, etc.

I want them to know that they can do anything that they set their mind to. I always tell them that the word can't is not allowed in my room, because how do you know if you "can't" unless you try.
