This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Just like my students, science is constantly growing and changing. In order for my students to keep up, they need a text book that matches their needs.
My students are always on the latest trends, in music, fashion and entertainment.
Science (and education) is often the last thought on their mind because they find it boring, and struggle with the topics. They attend a small school in Harlem, and we strive to make things entertaining as well as educational.
My Project
The book I'm requesting will specifically target the chemistry content in New York State, applying specific examples, diagrams and practice problems specific for my subject area. The students are currently only using my notes, and an outdated text book, and I want them to have a textbook that is more applicable to the content in this day and age. This will allow them to better understand Chemistry (and science), aid in developing their science education, and better appreciate the science that occurs in the world around them. The material in the book will not only help them pass my class, but pass the NYS Chemistry Regents in June of 2013.
Science is a rapidly growing field, and we need the next generation to grow with it.
By providing them with the necessary resources and the right foundation, we can allow them to grow along with anything.
