By the end of the school year, our students will know all about investing and saving.
Nestled in the heart of the South Bronx is an elementary school with third and fourth grade students who have great potential in becoming successful citizens in today’s society.
Our school is a Title I school located in a high needs area. Our class is comprised of general education students as well as students with Individual Education Plans. Our students are inquisitive and energetic. They are curious about the world around them and are always eager to learn new things.
My Project
Our students will be able to participate in the Stock Market Game. The Stock Market Game is an online educational program that offers players the opportunity to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in stocks, bonds and mutual funds. The tablets we are requesting, will allow our students to log in to the website, perform trades and research stock prices. Our students will have the opportunity to compete in the InvestWrite competition which will help them reinforce the concepts they learn in our classroom and put it in writing. They will learn to collaborate as team members in order to compete for the top spot in producing the best portfolio. The Amazon Echos will work together with the tablets. The students will be able to ask Alexa questions that can help them with stock research. This will also help increase independent research and learning.
Our students will learn more than investing: with the use of the tablet, they will be able to enter trades and update their portfolio on a daily basis.
This program teaches math, social studies, business, economics, and language skills, while focusing on the importance of long-term savings and investment. Financial Literacy will help our students make important decisions when it comes to money and savings. The Amazon Echo will help our students with calculations and stock picks.
