It is essential that we are building our students to be 21st century problem solvers. With two iPads to do a variety of tasks in our fifth grade classroom, we would be limitless. We need up-to-date tools to allow students the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams.
Our students are amazing, hard working students.
With the minimal technology that is provided, they absorb every opportunity to utilize it to the maximum potential. Parents encourage students to work to their fullest potential; however, they do not have the finances to purchase these items for their learning. Our county has adopted a bring your own device policy that allows students to bring mobile learning devices; however, our school is at 79% free and reduced lunch, qualifying us as a Title One school. Our computer labs have reached maximum capacity with rotating our 650 students weekly. I currently have two working computers and bring my personal laptop for children to use. Two iPads would allow the children to do so many things within our learning stations. This would give my children an advantage when they enter middle school the following year.
My Project
Our students are amazing, hard working, problem solvers. They enjoy reading, writing, science, and social studies stations to no end. They are energetic and ready to take on the world if given the chance. When different hands-on technology is presented or used in class, they are attentive and use it to the fullest potential. They have even inspired me in different ways to use technology I had not thought of. Furthermore, we use my Flip camera, laptop and digital camera on a regular basis. My students would jump at the opportunity to utilize an iPad in conjunction with their regular studies and classwork. I know beyond the shadow of a doubt it would increase interest and participation as well as building undeniable needed technology skills, higher order problem solving and presenting abilities. Please help us with iPads so we can move past antiquated technology and work towards a 21st century classroom. Thank you for your time!
I have researched different ways that students can get involved with reading, writing, math, science and social studies to accomplish real world learning with iPads.
They are engaging, interactive and provide an enhancement to their regular curriculum. Any donation would be a great assistance to providing these amazing students with new technology.
