I am a second grade teacher in Richmond, Vermont. My goal this year is for all my students to not only learn to read, but to find the confidence and joy that can be found within the lines and pictures of books.
My students are a wonderful group who truly take life for all that it offers.
They love to be outside, move around, tell jokes, and work hard. We set class goals and work together to achieve them so everyone can be successful and realize how significant their small role plays in the world. They attend a school were positive behavior and hard work is honored by receiving "links" that go toward a whole school celebration! These students and their zest for life would sure make anyone smile!
My Project
With these two iPads, students that are often reluctant to read a book will be more than willing to read from an iPad or computer. Students will be able to access online texts and programs that promote literacy skills such as fluency and comprehension, while meeting students at their current reading level. Scholars will also be able to access phonics apps that will help with spelling and decoding skills, without the worry of others knowing what they are studying.
I have purchased two of my own iPads which I let fifteen students share.
These iPads are in constant use during our reading time. I would like to have two more iPads for students to access throughout our day so that I can use one of my personal iPads for other elements of my teaching such as note taking when conferring with students. Thank you for your consideration.
