This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are driven to learn. They are always looking for something to make learning more engaging and fun. Being in the library allows me to become the person to help provide those opportunities, but my biggest challenge is providing them with those valuable resources to explore.
My two hundred students come from various walks of life, but they all thrive to discover more.
They are constantly looking for more ways to learn and reach their fullest potential. For a lot of them, school is one of the best places to experience learning opportunities that help them flourish. We provide them with the academics to build their knowledge, but are unable to provide them with a variety of hands-on experiences to use that knowledge to expand their thinking.
My Project
Our students want the opportunity to learn from experiences. These resources will begin our Makerspace and give them ways to be involved in learning on a different level. When students are allowed to create, invent, construct, and make, they're able to think at the highest levels. With the K'Nex, Legos, and Washi Tape the students will be given the resources to do all of those things. They will be able to continue to learn outside of the normal classroom setting. Activities will be tied to their core curriculum in English, math, science, and social studies. Student will be able to construct settings from a novel, design shapes to discuss area and perimeter, invent a new tool that could have been useful during a different time period, and so much more. The Makerspace will be a place for them to apply and expand the learning they received in class.
Your support for this project, for our Makerspace, will provide my students with the chance to continue their learning and understanding.
This will also help them to strengthen their thinking and problem solving skills across the curriculum.
