My students need a classroom subscription to TIME for Kids to enhance our social studies and reading curriculum, and some graphic organizers to help them understand what they read.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Do you remember the first time you read a newspaper or magazine? Help us to make sure that it happens in elementary school so that my students can become familiar with the format, as well as current events in our country and world.
We are a group of energetic and enthusiastic second graders with a hunger for knowledge.
We love authentic, real-world learning experiences because they are so meaningful to us. We attend school in a district in Texas that is embracing 21st century learning and other carefully chosen instructional initiatives that will prepare students to be problem-solvers and well-rounded citizens.
My Project
A classroom subscription to the magazine, TIME for Kids, is an excellent resource because it accomplishes many objectives. Not only will we become well-versed in current events, but we will also be exposed to other types of print resources beyond fiction.
We will be reading nonfiction, and we will become literate in print media. With this resource, we will also engage in multidisciplinary study as we read articles pertaining to math, science, and social studies, allowing us to experience an enriched curriculum.
The graphic organizers I have requested will help us to understand what we read. We will be able to organize the information and any thoughts we have in response. Additionally, these tools will complement a district initiative that requires the use of Thinking Maps (graphic organizers)at the elementary level. This resource will nicely complement TIME for Kids, but can be used in many more applications across the curriculum.
It is so important that students not only learn about history, but also learn about what is happening in the world around them.
They need to be able to understand what they read, so that they can truly read to learn. Also, they need to be able to handle genres other than fiction. Please help us become skilled consumers of knowledge.
