Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
A typical day is very busy for us. We have a tight schedule where we have to fit in a 90 minute reading block, 60 minutes math and language arts block. We have a daily 45 minute Tier 2 time where I work with 9 students that are in my Tier 2 group.
My students are from an urban area that has high poverty rates.
My students are loving and come to school to learn. They have had traumatic events happen to them which has caused many of them to have academic delays. My school serves students Pre-K- 5th grade with over 800 students. We are a neighborhood school. My students eat breakfast and lunch here at school. The teachers provide many school supplies and snacks for their students. My students this year are very thankful for what I have provided for them so far this year.
My Project
I have 9 students that are in my Tier 2 group. During our daily 45 minute tier 2 block I have them go to an online computer program and then work with them in small group. Two of my students can't read at all and struggle with phonics sounds. All 9 of them struggle with phonics and I need activities they can do on their level. These materials will help them gain the knowledge they need to recognize those vowel sounds so that they can read. If they don't learn how to read by the end of second grade, they will struggle in third grade. Two of my students have already repeated grades so it's really up to me to make that difference. My students need the phonics activity stations, phonics instant learning centers and the sound it out word stretchers because my students are below level in phonics.
These donations will help them to read.
These are my 9 lowest out of 25 students. They will be able to show they are beginning to read and then they will feel better about themselves and their academics. These students are not getting the support they need from home. Their parents don't read to them every night or have them read. This project will keep them engaged in learning to read and in turn we will see that they will be successful.
