A school with one computer lab and over 600 students results in frequently limited technology access!
Curiosity and a strong determination to excel drive my 26 students each day.
They love asking questions and tackling new challenges! This is in large part because of a program at our school called International Baccalaureate, which encourages inquiry learning.
My Project
My students need 1 laptop for their use in research, writing, and presentations. My students' insatiable inquiry often requires quick access to the Internet, and with many students sharing our precious school lab, it's difficult for that to become easily available. A constant laptop in our own classroom would be an instant resource across all subjects! Furthermore, the beauty of sponsoring this project would be the knowledge that you will reach learners at all levels: for students students who finish work quickly, it would help them extend their learning by doing further research on the subject. For students who need extra assistance, there are countless virtual tools available online with which they could explore information in different ways. The benefit wouldn't end there, either! Students could practice keyboarding, type published pieces, create PowerPoint presentations, explore Google Earth virtual field trips, and more!
Just one laptop in our classroom would make a vast impact on my students' learning.
As they continue to make daily inquiries, they would better develop skills including (but not limited to) researching, typing, and presentation-creating, all of which would assist them in an ever-increasingly technological world. The world would truly be at their fingertips.
