This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Come join us on our carpet ride... Any place it goes is right. Goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here... (Steppenwolf)
My students will be on this carpet ride for the next three years as we loop together from Kindergarten to 2nd Grade.
My school is located miles away from the Navy base and we have many children from military families. It's my goal to provide a safe, comfortable, and clean place for the kiddos to learn!
My Project
Shapes and colors capture a child's imagination. Rugs are home to the activities of students all day long. Themed carpets open up many learning opportunities for students. Carpets are available in a variety of themes including letters, numbers, nature, and more. These carpets allow teachers to make up games that engage students in learning. Themed carpets are so much more than a place just for students to sit. For example, I assign students numbers. The kids will be able to practice math concepts during independent math stations or use the assigned number carpet tiles for independent reading.
A classroom carpet will offer a way to reinforce themes, a way to introduce new concepts, and a practical way to organize the classroom.
Incorporating a classroom carpet is a smart way to integrate organization, design and theme quickly and easily.
