My students have everything they need to succeed in a technology driven world of science except the financial support to give them the advanced tools they need to compete
My students are driven, focused and mostly first generation college bound kids.
The city in which I teach is pretty tough with high poverty and drop out rates. But my school is a haven for kids who are intent on using education as a springboard out of poverty. My school is a city-wide magnet whose mission is to prepare our students for entry to the most competitive colleges in the world. We are, however, part of a public school system with chronic underfunding and we need your help.
My students need 8 computer stations to do advanced labs and simulations. The school system has started a lab upgrade for the science department in our school. Unfortunately, it doesn't include anything but lab benches and outlets! The lab is designed for technology integration, but our school budget has been cut and we will start the year with empty labs unless we can find funding for the computers we need. I would like to put a plaque outside the door of the physics lab with the names of all of the donors choose supporters who helped make it possible.
If we can work in a connected lab, my students will benefit from direct digital data collection, collaboration on documents and spreadsheets and design and conceptual support from the Internet.
