Corita Kent states, "Nothing is a mistake. There's no win or fail. There's only make."
This quote resonates with me because it is a teacher's responsibility to spark and fuel creative thought into our children.
We need to prepare students to be breakthrough innovators, thinkers, and doers with technology. Students need to have opportunities to use design thinking to create different projects in the fields of STEM. We need to get our students to think outside of the box and get them to develop a "fail forward" mindset so we can instill a natural thirst for learning. Students need to be inspired to discover new ideas and build upon them, try out new things, and keep trying again as they fuel their inner passion and perseverance to reach their ultimate goal. Finally, once they reach their goal, they can share their learning with the world.
For my project proposal, I am requesting a Chromebook for classroom activities. The students can design and create different interactive projects using Powtoons and other video making tools. My students are currently completing a research project on animals and they will be writing a nonfiction book with different infographics. Then, the students will create a video to showcase their learning. The students can conduct research on different topics of interest and they can be inspired to craft different projects in their areas of study. Students can ask questions, build new knowledge, and make different things based on their learning through the use of technology. In closing, Henri Matisse says, "Creative people are curious, flexible, persistent, and independent with a tremendous spirit of adventure and a love of play." Let's innovate my young scholars to tech it, create it, and design it.
