Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been a Kindergarten Teacher for 19 years. I teach inner city, high poverty students from various backgrounds. The academic performance levels vary from below proficiency, proficient and above proficiency. My kindergarten students are always eager to learn. Every student is unique in his or her own strengths and level of academic performance. These kiddos inspire new learning every day! They love to build, explore and investigate with materials. I am always looking for new ways to inspire their learning. Recently, they have demonstrated a love of working on STEM activities. These types of activities allow for multiple entry points and are geared to all levels of learning. These kiddos know how to record in their notebooks mathematical investigations while collaborating during our problem-solving block.
My Project
To continue my professional development as a learner, I am always looking for some new and exciting activities that are engaging and research-based. I am inspired to learn new ideas in attending professional development that are developmentally appropriate for my kiddos learning community. Attending Get your Teach On will allow me to learn from educators who are experts in the field of early childhood education. Their passion and enthusiasm for education will inspire me to apply new tips, tricks, and best practices into my classroom in order to build a successful and engaging learning community. Effective professional development will enable me to develop the knowledge and skills needed in order to address the diverse population of kiddos I celebrate in my classroom on a daily basis. Professional development is not effective unless it causes me to improve upon the delivery of my instruction.
