Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students need language materials/manipulatives in order to support the expansion of their receptive and expressive language skills. I am a first year speech teacher and my most of my materials are handmade.
I work at a Title I school elementary school in Brooklyn, N.Y.
My students are in grades K-5 with a variety of speech and language disorders. Some are in a special education setting and others are in a general education setting. Majority of my students have a difficult time expressing themselves. Visuals and interactive materials will provide them with the support that they need.
My Project
Having access to tactile materials will aid in comprehension. In addition, it will keep them engaged and motivated. Many of them have different learning styles, having an variety of materials will enhance their learning experience. The materials selected are of high quality and durability. Right now we are working with handmade materials, everything is laminated! The materials listed will support their IEP goals! Many of my students have sequencing, prepositional language, reading comprehension, vocabulary, memory and attention goals. I also have students with articulation goals, tongue depressors will help teach the placement of the tongue for different sounds.
Your donations will improve my speech room by allowing more hands-on activities that will enhance their learning.
They are also high-interest activities and are enjoyable for students. Not only will my caseload now be able to enjoy the materials, but my students in the future will as well.
